Book Description

August 2, 2011
Whether it's a simple supper or an impromptu dinner party, there are few things more enjoyable than sharing a delicious meal with the people you love. In this lavishly photographed book, award-winning food blogger and writer Sara Kate Gillingham-Ryan reveals her stylish, but unfussy way of entertaining with friends and family, in which she relies on easy yet sophisticated dishes that are both enjoyable to make and satisfying to eat for any get-together.

Inside you'll find the fresh and flavorful fare that Sara Kate serves at her own casual gatherings, like summery peach and white nectarine sangria; sweet figs with toasted walnuts and creamy burrata; fennel-roasted whole salmon stuffed with lemon and herbs; delicate spring vegetable ragout; and tangy rhubarb-ginger crumble. From drinks to desserts, each of her more than one hundred inspiring recipes calls for seasonal ingredients and time-savvy techniques, and are all ideal for serving family-style on platters meant for passing and sharing.

Throughout the book, Sarah Kate offers personal tips and tricks that make entertaining at home a pleasure. She shows you uncomplicated ideas and advice for how to put together simple antipasto platers; select wine and craft bubbly cocktails; make the most of summer tomatoes and much more. Along the way, she also shares her approach to preparing some of her favorite crowd-pleasing dishes, such as a new take on a chopped salad; how to cook the perfect steak; innovative flavor variations for ice cream; and many others.

Good Food To Share, and Sara Kate's chic, yet effortless approach to entertaining with family and friends, is your modern, easy-to-follow guide to memorable meals.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"In real life, Sara Kate is sweet and smart, funny, warm, gracious and boundlessly enthusiastic. She's the kind of person you always want to be around and she makes the kind of food you always want to eat: simple, honest, good looking and very, very good tasting. Here's great news: Sara Kate's style and culinary charm shine on every page of Good Food to Share." --Dorie Greenspan, author of Around My French Table

From the Author

"The ultimate goal of any dinner party I host is to connect people to their food and to share a meal together. That's it. I want to fill their bellies, of course, but mostly I want them to leave with a strong sense of connection to what they have eaten."
- Sara Kate Gillingham-Ryan

5.0 out of 5 stars You NEED this book if you like to entertain August 18, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I know, I know, who needs another cookbook? BUT, this book has some wonderful, novel ideas. I've already sent it to my mother-in-law and another friend who are excellent hostesses. Ms Gillingham-Ryan's elegant yet simple style will help make your next gathering a fun time for you and your guests. I appreciate that the food is non-fussy and easy to make, yet still thoughtful and contains lots of fresh ingredients. The drink section is especially fun, I've already had the yummy fizzy drinks. Oh, and the pictures - I wish I could eat some of them off the page!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't keep a copy around for long... August 10, 2011
By Amy G
Format:Hardcover
I can't seem to keep a copy in my home -- I keep buying one for myself, and then turning around and giving it as a gift, pronto! Thankfully, I've memorized Sara Kate's basic vinaigrette recipe. I love the simplicity of many of the recipes, their inspired combinations, and how Sara Kate invites cooks to experiment and play, including suggestions for alternative ingredients. It's also so darn beautiful and enjoyable to read, it's one of those cookbooks I've cherished as bedtime reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sara Kate's always a great resource! August 10, 2011
Format:Hardcover
Sara Kate's recipe's are always wonderfully unique without being bizarrely esoteric. I appreciate the ease with which she walks the reader step by step through each creation. This book would make a great gift from the newly- wed couple learning to cook to the retiree looking to hone his/her culinary skills!
