5.0 out of 5 stars Bonus track well worth it!, December 10, 2000
By A Customer
The bonus track makes this single worth the purchase price...it's a great tribute to Jeff Buckley...

4.0 out of 5 stars This Harvey Girl Rocks, June 25, 2001
By
Jayne MacManus (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Good Fortune (Audio CD)
This isn't the exact CD single I have of "Good Fortune" -- the one offered here on Amazon actually has more tracks. But if you want to introduce yourself to alternative goddess PJ Harvey, this import single is a seductive burst of rock-hard soul, angst, and attitude. "Good Fortune" is from her latest album, but "66 Promises" and "Memphis" are stellar B-sides. (The latter is a tribute to the late Jeff Buckley.) As whip-smart as PJ rocks, her songs bear lingering emotional wounds that leave you wondering afterwards if they were yours or hers to begin with.

5.0 out of 5 stars the light maze of b-sides, January 6, 2001
b-sides are weird, four winged creatures. you'd expect them to be sweet riddles, they've been out-casted from the big building that is 'the_album' and you think there must be a reason, BUT: you still end up loving them way more than the songs in the album itself.

those featured in the good fortune single(s) do not make exception to this (if paradoxical) rule. anyone would agree that memphis is "very divine indeed!" and 66 promises (or 30, the third bee., featured on part 2) are "great songs" if nothing else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cd of the year!, January 2, 2001
A Kid's Review
This cd is the best I've bought in sometime and I listen to every music type.PJ is at her best, she prevails on the best cut on the cd which is titled,"A Place Called Home". It's the third track for those of u,who are used to track numbers oppossed to titles. She writes, mixes, produces, plays lead and rhythm guitars, keys and all vocals, that kind of various talent is unheard of in todays music market. Her ingenuity is so refreshing.Buy this cd and run to the store, don't walk,it will be in your car cd changer or your walkman for months to come, trust me,it's that good.Other tracks to listen to are,"We Float","You Said Something" and "Big Exit"!
