Okay, so I may think he is a bit of an aussie dag, but I like his stuff because of this. His accent though it has a twang, is Australian and that's all you need to promote the country talent we have in down under.
A good mixture of light and dark, reflective and toe-tapping, "Good Friends", the 2nd release for Brand is worth your while. The suburban sounds of "When The Needle Hits The Vinyl" and the album's opening, "Big Old Car" takes you back to hot Australian summers in the country with your family - "Little Sisters" features an absolute corker of a line in, (they'll annoy you but,) "I'm bullet proof and ten feet tall when they say I love you". The album also features some wonderful moments such as a Sunday-Morning anthem, "I Did What" and "Every Man Likes You". Honesty is perhaps what stands out most in this album, the idea that a love is still there, though in a different form after a parting of two people ("Good Things in Life") and doesn't descriminate between ages with such tracks as "'Needle" and "You Are To Me". All in all, a country album that has the makings of a classic. Don't pass up what comes from Tamworth to Nashville.
