This weeder has a comfortable grip and does a pretty good job with popping up individual weeds. The metal ring is good for scraping off some short-rooted weeds, but overall, since you need to be on your hands and knees to use this tool, it's best for spot-weeding small areas. In a pinch, a trowel works just as well, but this weeder won't leave as large of a hole in your garden! I'm glad I bought it, I use it all gardening season, and it's a great tool for gardeners to have.

I am a big fan of Oxo products of all sorts, but not just because of comfortable handles. Most, like this weeder, also reflect an improvement in function. The funny-looking oval welded to the handle provides excellent leverage at just the right spot for getting out most weeds. I say most because mature dandelions have roots that extend beyond the reach of this tool. Once you understand that (and have a longer tool available), this device does a great job. Although it is not a problem I have, I imagine this would be a God-send for those with weaknesses in hands and wrists.

When my wife Cheryl first got me one I looked at it and thought, smile and say thank you. Once I used it the thank you was genuine. In the Phoenix, Arizona area the soil is hard and tough on tools like these. The point on the OXO Weeder stays sharp, unlike similar tools I have had. The odd looking attached oval gives great leverage for digging out weeds. The shaft has not bent, like similar tools I have had in the past. Best hand weeder I have had!

For the less stubborn weeds, this weeding tool does the job. I would place the tool and twist it to get the more stubborn weeds. It might not dig up all of the weed's root but at least the weed is removed.

If you have lots of weeds to dig, be sure to wear gloves. I got carried away in using it for an hour without gloves and started to develop a blister.

I had been looking for a weeder that had some leverage. This one it perfect. The gel handle is a plus.

Works best if dirt isn't bone dry.
I have very small hands and get repetitive wrist injury in no time, but this OXO weeder doesn't hurt me.
Used it for 6 weeks now.
I really like the excellent quality of metal.
Have never used anything to weed before except an old knife (not a good tool) so I can't compare to other tools.
But the leverage the horizontal piece provides is just right for me.
I always sit when I weed anyway so I don't mind having to sit to get the right leverage.

The pointed end of this tool that pries weeds out of the ground is handy. You get good leverage.

That same design makes the triangular "scraper" portion of this tool useless. Theoretically, you can move the tool forwards backwards over the ground surface, and the scraper will scrape up small weeds with shallow root systems.

The problem is 1) the scraper part is only sharp on one side and 2) the long handle prevents you from angling the scraper to get better a better angle on removing the weed.

Putting the two tools together into one design doesn't work. I used this only a few times before I gave it away. Don't buy it.

Ok. don't know how I have survived this long without a weeder. Probably because i am relatively new to gardening....(I didn't know such a tool existed). I am very pleased with the Good Grips. It dramatically cuts down weeding time. The weeds come out very easily, even in this dry desert soil. The metal ring on the side looks pretty strange, but is a huge help for getting leverage on the root. The grip is very comfortable. It is my new best friend. Oh, and the metal feels very solid.

Dandelions in our lawn have always been a major problem. This tool let me get them out very easily and without leaving a huge hole. This would make a good gift for any gardener.

I've got really bad arthritis and yet I can weed for hours with this gadget. Love it!!!
