I own this mitt and I have been very pleased with it. I got it six months ago, and it has held up excellently through washings and rough treatment! I have not once been burned through it, and it is easy to use even when wet. The little hanger that is attached to it has also not broken, which is unusual for my pot holders-- we cook a lot and they get constant use and abuse.

The only reason I am giving it only four stars is because it is too small for my fiance's hand to fit smoothly in through the wrist area. He does have large hands, but so do a lot of tall men, and they need pot holders too! In addition, I have trouble bending the pot holder when I want to pick up something small. The plastic is just a tad thick for that.

This is a well designed and well made oven mitt. The lining feels soft, the silicon offers superb protection against hot surfaces, and the clever magnet on the sleeve makes it very convenient to store the mitt on the fridge to save drawer space. The only complaint I have is the size. Apparently this mitt was designed to accommodate extra large hands, because my medium sized hand donned with this glove always struggles to retrieve items from the oven. If you have small hands this may not work so well for you.

I bought this oven mitt for my mom who loved it, so now I have one too.
My old mitt burned through to my hand - this does not. I like that I can rinse it right off if it gets dirty instead of washing a cloth mitt in the washing machine. I like the magnet on it so it is readily available on my frig. I also love the bright colors to choose from.

This is a hard review. The primary PLUS I suppose is that this item is WONDERFUL for STOPPING HEAT ... and I assume that is the primary reason you buy this.. it is essentially impervious to any heat that you'd normally encounter.. also its nicely lined with a soft and comfortable material, and reaches well up your arm to protect that as well.. how many times have you burned your wrist on the rack or oven side while reaching for a hot item? However it does have it's problems!!

1. The most critical thing is the poor "flex pattern" which makes picking up items and gripping them very awkward. In the least case, I'd order TWO of these if you feel this is the glove you want.. this is so you can use both hands to grip anything you want to pick up.. this is the only way you'll really get much of a grip and be confident that you can move hot items safely to where you're going.

2. This fits poorly. I have largish hands I guess but many men especially will have even larger hands.. the fingers are more than adequate.. they in fact are too long.. 1.5" longer than my fingers.. but it also is very tight around my knuckles (where the fingers join your hand) and even tighter if you try to "grip" something.

3. Of lesser issue, but still to be considered is that the material, though tough and rubbery, CAN BE TORN on any jab by a sharp or pointed surface.. and of course once this is done, the glove is pretty much not going to serve it's purpose anymore.

I've looked at other gloves and most have similar or worse problems. I guess we're still just up in the air until someone comes up with the truly functional item.

They work very well to protect you from the heat. My husband has large hands and these mitts are too large for him. We feel a certain insecurity when using these gloves while picking up large and heavy pots / roasters, because there is so much extra 'mitt' that we have to be very careful that we are securely holding the vessel to transport it.

They look good but they just don't work for human hands. It is next to impossible to grip something with these. I returned them.

The mitt protects your hand from very high temps effectively, and the silicone coated portion is flexible enough to let you get a grip on whatever you are handling. It is not as flexible as a cloth mitt - you have to try a bit harder to grip the edge of a casserole - but it works.
