Although I don't recommend this book for beginners (some of the recipes are time consuming and complicated), it is an excellent resource for chefs who love fresh herbs. Every recipe I have used from this book has turned out wonderfully. In fact, I love this book so much that I have given it as a gift to several friends of mine. If you love to serve good food and you want to feel good about the food you serve, this is the cookbook for you. Bon appetit!

This one is worth checking out and is easy to use. I have used it for several years now and although it was one of my first, it is still one of my favorites, as it is the one I reference most.

Last week my physician told me I had pre-hypertension. Seeing as how both of my grandparents on both sides had strokes and heart attacks and then both of my parents have had either a stroke or heart attack,I took his warning serious, but made a face at taking blood pressure medication. I am just 50 years old. So he gave me a list of herbs and vitamins, Hawthorne Berry, Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and some other stuff. He also recommended specific brands for some of the stuff. Then I found this book on my bookshelf, I've probably had it for years, and what a delightful surprise! it has all the recipes and every single recommendation my physician made to me about no sodium and no diary diet, plus the supplements.

The book is well written and easy to read and the recipes seem delicious. I was very quickly able to tweak the recipes to my own tastes and need based on what I was reading in the book and my own cooking knowledge. I did have to buy a bunch of new spices and some new types of groceries, but nothing out of the ordinary. I am not sure if I will have to take medication for hypertension in the future, but either way this is my new favorite go to cookbook. So if you are on a no salt no dairy diet for hypertension. I highly recommend this book. It all seems Yummy! and oh so healthful!

Very lovely book with great recipes--basically it is a cookbook. I sent it as a gift and my sister thinks it is great. It certainly could inspire one to plant a large herb garden.

Book arrived in good shape, but a paperback not the hardcover I had hoped for. Maybe I misunderstood?

The book is one I had read before, and gives brief histories of various herbs, as well as how to use them, and what they are good for. Well written, and a good reference. I'm not as interested in the recipes as I am the lore and the medicinal background.
