5.0 out of 5 stars Makes cooking fun
This cookbook really should be in every kitchen. This isn't your grandmother's cookbook. The book is in full-color, the recipes are updated and modern, easy-to-follow, and they work. I made a delicious hollandaise sauce the other day and it was surprisingly easy. Last weekend I made a carrot cake, including the icing, and it was a big hit at my dinner party. Now, instead...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad Binding
The recipes are great, and layout of this cookbook is good, but the binding on the one we received was poor. The back half of the cover is held to the pages by one thin piece of paper, and that paper was already torn when we received the book.

I made a delicious hollandaise sauce the other day and it was surprisingly easy. Last weekend I made a carrot cake, including the icing, and it was a big hit at my dinner party. Now, instead of thinking "Where will I go for dinner tonight," I think, "What can I make for dinner tonight." Do yourself a favor and add this great cookbook to your kitchen library.

This is a great cookbook to have on hand when you are trying to expand your knowledge in the kitchen. I have tried several new recipes from this book and they have all gone over very well with my family.

Purchasing the Good Housekeeping Cookbook, was a no brainer. As a young bride in 1965 and still today it is the most used cookbook on my shelf.

This new version was purchased for a young friend who will be married in the summer. I'm sure she will enjoy it as much as I have.

2.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointed, March 1, 2008
This review is from: The Good Housekeeping Cookbook: 1,039 Recipes from America's Favorite Test Kitchen (Hardcover)
Since I have the first "Good Housekeeping Cookbook" I was very thrilled to see that they now have a new one, but for now I have not found as many great new recipe ideas as I hoped for. I still prefer their first cookbook.

We had an old good housekeeping cookbook and wanted a closely type f or the new one. It was not close which is because your online material that listed the books was so confusing. You were trying to sell so may things that we didn't have time to study the presentations. When it got here, it wasn't close to what we thought we were getting. We sent it back. My confusion is my own fault.

A few weeks after graduating from college in 1965, I got tired of grilling a steak and boiling a potato every night. This was my first cookbook, and I still use it years later. My niece recently graduated and got an apartment, so I bought this for her as a gift.
