5.0 out of 5 stars The best, most accessible jam band out there. Unfortunately no more.
This CD is incredible. Buy it for "Wendy" and "Waiting for the Tide" alone. Great, rocking jams that NEVER get tired. I was at all of the final shows and these discs faithfully capture the energy and excitement of the event. GSW always sounds (alas, sounded) better live and here is major proof why. "Mantaloking Town" is a GSW classic that is recorded in one of it's...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not their best
2 disc set that documents God Street Wine's farewell shows in New York City. Some inspired playing and typical mix of originals (Into the Sea is a standout) and classic covers (Dear Prudence and Into the Mystic are both excellent, and the Mock Turtle Song from Disney's Alice in Wonderland shows how diverse GSW could get).

Overall, I think Good to the Last Drop is well...

"Mantaloking Town" is a GSW classic that is recorded in one of it's best versions I have ever heard. The most phenomenal aspect of the whole cd is that it is still really great despite what was left out! The band packed a ton of great songs and great jams into these shows, but unfortunately, some could not be included do to minor audio glitches during recording. Overall, though the sound quality is really excellent. Get in your car and turn it to eleven! I say most accessible because of the bands roots in rock and blues, with a little funk added for good measure. If you like music...real music, buy these discs! My friend's dumb, outdated mushroom haircut can be seen on the cover!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Live-Jam records, October 21, 2001
This review is from: Good to the Last Drop (Audio CD)
This is a fantastic record that no jamband-lover can miss. This is truly inspirational. It has rythm and drive, I guess, everything a true music fan expects a great record to be.

Highly recommendable

4.0 out of 5 stars Sorry I missed these guys live, September 26, 2001

This is a good recording of what I envisioned these guys sounding like live..jamming but still tight, phunky, and in the pocket. Of all the jam bands out there, these guys throw the coolest chord voicings (similiar to Steely Dan) into their songs. I'm sorry I never got to see them play because I'm sure they would have been worth it. If you like funky feel good songs placed into a cohesieve start to finish package you should get this release. Enjoy

Now no longer together, this is the best GSW Album. This album was recorded from the last show ever in New York City. The 2 Disc collection contains old, new and cover tunes that are done in classic God Street Wine Style. If you follow Phish, Grateful Dead, or the likes you will definately want to buy this CD!

Overall, I think Good to the Last Drop is well worth having if you're a GSW fan, but it didn't capture the vibe and excitement of actually seeing them live. (I was fortunate to catch their show quite a few times from DC up to New Hampshire, and like all great "jam bands" it was never the same twice.)

I'd recommend Bag, Who's Driving, $1.99 Romances or Red all over Good to the Last Drop, but maybe it's just me... Last Drop is good, but not GSW's best.
