5.0 out of 5 stars Best EP I own
Weezer released this EP sometime in late 1997, and it has since then been one of my favorite EPs. Boasting two b-sides, two acoustic live tracks, and the title track, it basically has it all. 3.0 out of 5 stars Where third eye blind left off...
EVER bought a CD and after browsing through the songs wondered to yourself "these songs sound farmiliar!" Prime examples are Coldplay of Live and Fuel of Creed but now it's safe to assume that Weezer are the faithful followers of none other than Third Eye Blind.

Songs such as "say it ain't so" prove that Weezer have gone far enough to copy the bass...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best EP I own, April 25, 2001
This review is from: Good Life (Audio CD)
Weezer released this EP sometime in late 1997, and it has since then been one of my favorite EPs. Boasting two b-sides, two acoustic live tracks, and the title track, it basically has it all. The best song on this EP is the fast paced I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams, featuring the beautiful voice of ex-That Dog vocalist Rachel Haden. While strange to hear a Weezer song where Rivers is merely the back-up vocalist, the song does its duty as a traditional harmony filled, singable, melodic Cuomo creation. My second favorite track is Waiting On You. This one is rather slow paced, reminiscient of Butterfly in its speed and over all emotional content. The live tracks are pretty good too. For live recording fans, they'll recognize these tracks from the Shorecrest High show of november 6th 1996. What these add to a fan's collection are professionaly produced acoustic tracks/versions from a very successful and unique performance. It's always interesting to hear Weezer translate their upbeat classics into acoustic guitar-only songs. (Incidentally, in their newest tour in Japan, rumor has it they're playing an electric, full band version of Butterfly). Of course, the title track is itself amazing. The Good Life has been my second favorite Weezer song since I purchased Pinkerton in September 1996. All in all, the EP is worth every penny, whether the $12 it cost in 1997, or the $20 or so Amazon is asking now. Only a poor, second rate Weezer fan would miss out on this.

"the Good Life" single is one of weezers greatest singles not only because the music rocks, it has 5 tracks on it. Two of these tracks are previously unrealeased and two others live and acoustic. If you love weezer you should own this CD!

This is a great single. Most likely that if you're buying this you already own Pinkerton so on to the non-album tracks...Also Included are Waiting On You, I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams (Rachel Haden on vocals), and The Good Life and Pink Triangle (both acoustic and live). Waiting On You sounds as though it was picked right off of Pinkerton, it would've fit right in there, good song. I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams is the main reason I bought this single. It's a great, uptempo song that is very reminiscent of the Blue Album's style and the guest female vocalist does an excellent job of fulfilling Rivers' vision for the song. The two acoustic tracks are pretty much what you'd expect, not too many surprises. All in all, a solid lil' single.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Single, January 9, 2003

Overall this is a great buy. The Good Life is one of the best songs off of Pinkerton, which is considered by many to be Weezer's best album. Waiting on You and IJTOTLOMD are great songs that you can only get from this EP. And the live acoustic versions of The Good Life and Pink Triangle are great! I strongly recommend this EP.

5.0 out of 5 stars single worth the money, April 19, 2001

Weezer is definitely an original band that doesn't copy nobody! Their kind of music is exactly the shot in the arm that mainstream rock needs at the moment, no image, no gimmicks, no marketing stunts, just great hooks and cool lyrics. And the "good life" single is a perfect example for this. I bought the CD back in Germany and it was worth the extra money: Next to the standard version of "the good life" it features two tracks released nowhere else (at least to my knowledge). "waiting on you" and "I just threw away the love of my dreams" are classic catchy weezer tunes with a twist. AND: You get life-accoustic versions of "the good life" and "pink triangle", my personal favorite song. It comes along much more tender than the original, but that suits the song perfectly. Weezer rock and I can't wait for the new album!

5.0 out of 5 stars To the misinformed... Here's the math, February 2, 2001

Just for the record, Weezer's self titled "blue album", containing the song "Say it Ain't So" was released on May 10, 1994. Third Eye Blind released their self titled album, containing the song "Semi-Charmed Life" on April 8, 1997. If you have a basic understanding of mathematics, you will realize that Weezer's album came out 2 years and 11 months before Third Eye Blind's album did. I'm pretty sure that it safe to say that weezer did not copy Third Eye Blind. Rivers Cuomo is a genius, and weezer doesn't need to copy other people's songs. Other people try to copy them. If you want a band that sounds like weezer, check out Ozma. This album rocks, as does every weezer album. If you can't relate to weezer's lyrics, you aren't human.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Ep's by far, May 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Good Life (Audio CD)
The Good Life Ep is definately one of the best EPs I have ever heard. It boasts a great mix Emo Core style from the Pinkerton era of Weezer. Along with the Good Life single, also included are an acoustic version of the song, "Waiting On You" (one of the band's best B-sides), "I Just Threw Out the Love Of My Dreams" a collaboration between Weezer and the Rentals, and an acoustic version of "Pink Triangle". Any Alt-Rock fan should buy this one. If you are not a Weezer fan before hearing this you will become one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its Weezer it already gets a 5, April 2, 2001

Hey I was just wondering what tracks are on this single? (Besides the Good Life that is) I hope someone could tell me please. As for the so called music fan from NYC all I can say in the words of Dark Helmet "Whats with you mon?" How can you call yourself a music fan and not know that Weezer came out before 3EB. How can you even call yourself intelligent life? Heres a quick math lesson for you: Weezer - 1994 3EB - 1997. 1997 - 1994 = 3 (as in the three years that Weezer's album came out before 3EB!) Next time do some research before making a claim like that.
