By JohnFsky@aol.com (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Good Magic (Paperback)
The pictures are what sold me. These are not hand drawn pictures but photos showing you the meaning of magical practices. You see in photos examples of what is being taught. What a concept. Seeing what you are being taught. Buy this book.

A Beautiful and well informed book,
By Dreamthought (FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Good Magic (Paperback)
Beginning witches this book may help you. I have grown and changed since i got this book (in 1994) but in the beginning, it was very helpful. Tables for herbs, flowers, lunar cycles, stones, beautiful illustrations, spells, divination, balance with the elements... Marina Medici has captured the spirit of what it is all about and presents it here to you.

A good beginner's guide to practical magic fundamentals,
By A Customer
This review is from: Good Magic (Paperback)
This book introduced me to the world of Magic and witchcraft. It was a good overview of the various techniques and tools for witchcraft. The book is empowering for the beginning practicioner because it teaches that power emanates from within, and not simply through empty ritual practice. The rituals are treated more as focusing and meditation tools than simple "spells." I would have liked more discussion on theoretical existential matters (such as our place in the universe, how the universe actually works, etc.), but overall the book is comfortable and easy to follow.

Ms. Medici Writes a Well-Balanced, Positive Book,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Good Magic (Paperback)
"Good Magic" is just that--there's no hard doctrine here, just a lovely book (photos & text) about a subject that is gaining in popularity and exposure. Marina Medici approaches her subject with notable balance, positivity, poetry, and knowledge. A great book to read, think about, and use in your life.

Every time I run into someone new to the craft, the always ask what's a good book to start one. THIS ONE!!! Gives you just enough to get you going, but not so much it overwhelmes you. And after 13 years as a Wiccian, I still refer back to it time and time again.

The Best All Around Magick Book Written,
By A Customer
This review is from: Good Magic (Paperback)
In my opinion, "Good Magick" is the best book ever written on the subject. It covers all areas of Magick from herbs, stones, etc, to Lunar cycles and how to perform different spells. It is well written and easy to understand. It gives step-by-step instruction for "newcomers" and it is the best guide book for those who are well practiced. A "MUST" for your library.

A classic! Written with integrity and no dogma,
By
This review is from: Good Magic (Paperback)
I read Good Magic in 1992. I had read various hokey books on Wicca and magic prior to this book, as well as since. Not only is it lusciously photographed with images that capture what magic is all about (nature, the elements, celebration of life) but it is well written. No dogma, no hard and fast rules, and no references to the specifics of Wicca make this a good general reference to beginners, solitary practitioners, and those who don't adhere to a specific tradition.
Medici is a gentle and grounded writer, who presents the content of the book with poise and grace. None of that sassy brat-Wicca that unfortunately populates so many of today's bookshelves. She strikes me as a writer and practitioner who walks the talk; and to whom magic is not just about "controlling" events around us, but also about growing and maturing as an individual. Only wish is that she had written more books. Good Magic has a timeless quality to it, which makes it the foremost book on magic in my library.

One of the best magick books around, for all levels.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Good Magic (Paperback)
When I first started doing magick I found it very hard to find a good book that explained the basics (casting a circle) well. That is actully had them at all and with little religious bias. This book was perfect. it contains all the basics of casting a circle, the elements, and basic tools. It also contains many simple, yet effective, spells for magickians of all levels of experience. PLUS it is in gorgeous full color photos that illustrate easily everything it talks about. Oh, and did I mention the easy to use reference charts for everything from type of spell for a specific purpose to stones to herbs. This book covers a little bit of everything, well! I strongly reccomend this book to beginners, and for the spells therein people of all levels of experience. Teachers try this as a new starter book it works great! Enjoy!

Excellent book.,

This review is from: Good Magic (Paperback)
I have many books on magic, this one is, thus far, my favorite. Very well written. Not superficial at all, as so many are! Some of the books out there, on wicca and witchcraft, are silly-fluffy-bunny stuff, as if they'd had been written by Barbie. Good Magic is a very down to earth book. I just wish the author had written another book on just rituals and spells.

Marina has managed to produce in one book the long awaited for "Magic 101 - Primer". For anyone searching for how to get started and actually work magic, this is a must-have book. It does not preach any set religion or philosophy. <BK> Marina is clear and precise in what magic is and how it works. Using only the four elements: Air, Fire, Water, Earth and only the simplest of tools: Herbs, Flowers, Stones; She shows you how to call the powers, and create the magic that is alive in all of us and around us.The book is very well written in easy clear concise instructions. I hope to see more books by Marina in the future. |
