Editorial Reviews

Review

Paulette George s wonderfully written Good Morning, Beautiful is more than an emotional insight into a family s battle with epilepsy, more than a compelling argument for the ketogenic diet, and more than just hope that victory can happen. It offers strength to persevere and inspiration for parent empowerment. --Jim Abrahams - The Charlie Foundation To Help Cure Pediatric Epilepsy.

All of us parents fear the day the doctor tells us something is terribly wrong with one of our children. My friend Paulette George and her husband lived this fear as they watched, prayed, and wondered in agony while little Christina suffered from a rare and abnormal condition. Good Morning Beautiful is their heartfelt story of faith. You will be challenged, encouraged, and moved to tears as you read Paulette s raw but inspiring journey. As a parent, I hope I would exhibit the same faith and hope if my child were to endure what little Christina endured. This book is destined to move your heart toward the Heavenly Father, whose loving arms carry us during our most difficult trials. Whether you re caring for a similarly suffering child or not, you ll want to pick up this book and read the story of an ordinary family on an extraordinary journey of faith. --Daniel Darling, Senior Pastor, Gages Lake Bible Church

I ve seen Christina as she grew and saw the impossible become reality. Her story has touched me, and shows us all the power of music. I highly recommend this book, not just because my music played a role in this story, but because of its message of courage, faith and love of family. --Steve Holy, National Recording Artist, Curb Records.

What a lovely, encouraging story. Every parent that has attended their child while epilepsy continues to rob them with seizure after seizure will gain from this very sweet and honest look at what a parent's love can do. Super job telling a really hard story, filled with heart wrenching trials, tears and finding the strength to persue good medical help! This author, though not a perfect english comp., does a perfectly wonderful job telling the rest of us how to persavere, and NEVER GIVE UP. These are our children, and they're worth it.

This wonderful book talks about winning the battle over seizures but to me it went far beyond that to illustrate the imperative we have as Mothers to advocate for our children. To listen to our inner voices and alarms because they matter. This story is not just for people with children who are suffering with seizure disorders but for any parent who is not being heard or who is considering disregarding what their gut is telling them.

"A most moving story of inspiration, dedication, love, and faith."

Two-and-a-half year old Christina faced more health issues at this age than most children would ever face. An astounding number of epileptic seizures a day (100 or more) impaired her growth and grieved the heart of her parents.

In Good Morning, Beautiful: Winning the Battle Over Seizures, by Paulette George, key words spoke to me as I read this book. In the forward written by Dr. Jeffrey Buchhalter, a Pediatric Epileptologist, states "We are all healed in some way by Christina's life and it has only just begun." In those words the tone of the book is set.

Reading of the life of little Christina brings hope and healing as we see the work of God in the parents, the doctors and even singers and musicians.

Paulette George is candid and open as she writes about her daughters struggles. These are the words of a mother determined to find help for her daughter. The photos, the prayers, the frustration and exaltations in this book will move the heart of every mother.

What took me surprise in this book? Insights into the prayers of a desperate but faithful parents, family and friends, for one. How God chose music for little `Nina' to inspire her parents, for another. But, there are many other wonderful moments in this book. Many small miracles, often unnoticed by most, spark hope and inspire faith.

I would recommend this book to anyone facing a struggle, health related or not. This is a testimony and glimpse into the life of a Christian family presented with circumstances that only God can heal, and He does.

Included also is a list of excellent resources such as hospitals, books, websites for parents of children struggling with epilepsy.

A while back I got the book Good Morning, Beautiful: Winning the Battle Over Seizures. It was an incredibly emotional book, but more importantly, it shared the story of how one child, Christina overcame not only epilepsy, but also autism. Christina's advocate and mother, Paulette George, tells an incredible story that had me bawling at times.

I don't think the reader needs to have any experience with seizures or life-threatening problems to appreciate this book. However, this book is an excellent testimony for the Ketogenic Diet, a special form of treatment for epilepsy. Good Morning, Beautiful gives hope when it seems like there is no hope. As I read it, I was so thankful for my son's health and how normal he is (with a three hour seizure, we're thankful there is no evidence of brain damage).

Many families find triumph over a variety of issues. Christina's family fought a long hard battle with epilepsy. Paulette George wrote a powerful book that shows God's providence through all of it.

I highly recommend this book, but know that it is an emotional read-at times I wanted to stop, but just couldn't! I was, at times, distracted by typographical errors, but the book still shines forth!

Although, this book follows a family and their battle with life threatening epilepsy. It is a must read for any parent because as parents it is our duty to be our child's advocate. In this modern day world of high tech medical care, nobody knows your child like you do. There are good Doctors and treatments but don't expect them to just fall into your lap. This story shows what it takes to get your child what they need in this confusing world of medicine. This is a very inspiring and uplifting story that is every parent's must read.
