This book is terrific! My husband and I read it before we had our first child. Bob Greene got us super excited about the baby's birth! We tried to read it slowly, so we wouldn't finish much before we had out child. We give this book to all of our friends who are expecting a baby and they agree it's a must-read!

A great book for a father-to-be! My husband got so much out of it before our daughter was born twenty-eight years ago, so we ordered this book for our son-in-law when we found our this same daughter was going to give us our first grandchild!

My mother gave me her copy of Bob Greene's Good Morning, Merry Sunshine after the birth of my daughter. She said that I had to read it and that it would change the way that I look at my daughter and at fatherhood. She was right - this book is terrific.

In 1982 Greene and his wife Susan had their first child, daughter Amanda Sue. Greene vowed that he would keep a daily diary of Amanda Sue's first year and Good Morning resulted. Parents - especially fathers - will find a lot that they can relate to in this book: the joys, heartaches, and the changes in perspective are all here.

Greene focuses on his tender feelings for Amanda Sue and on the strains that her birth brought into his marriage. Given that Greene later had to resign from the Chicago Tribune after a tryst with an teen girl whom he met through the paper, it's hard not to read this book and think about what it says about his marriage. I give Greene credit for being frank about his problems, but I also noticed the many references that he made about young women.

Good Morning, Merry Sunshine is a poignant, entertaining book. All parents will find much that is familiar in Greene's experiences.

I am passing the baton to my son-in-law and daughter. I have purchased the book that I too read, while waiting for my 1st daughter to arrive some 26 years ago. It was a very insightful book for me personally and I'm sure it will be for my kids as well. The time has passed but the excitement and amazement that I once experienced will be rekindled in my children and this book will help them relate and celebrate life and love of it. Funny that a book with such a foofy title has made such a big and lasting memory in my life that I feel it be a right of passage that my son-in-law read it before he experiences the wonder of life 1st hand. Bob Greenes writing style and content is a easy going, right on the mark experience that touches each reader in a special way, its a must read for all new to be dads. I look forward to being a grandfather and am so happy for my children that they will experience one of the greatest feelings in life, seeing the birth of your child. Truly a miracle !
