Good Morning Revival - Good Charlotte,
By
This review is from: Good Morning Revival (Audio CD)
This is a GREAT CD! The River is my favorite song, but there are a lot of good songs on this CD. Another good CD of Good Charlotte is Chronicles of Life and Death. They are great and I'm kinda old (43) but I love em anyway.

Long time fan & I say this is their BEST YET.,

I love the new sound & direction GC took with this album. The thing people need to realise is that life isn't all about labels. They never claimed to be punk or anything like that, they are just themselves. Deal with it. They're not going anywhere.
Now onto the album review. Joel's voice sounds amazing on every song & the lyrics are really great. I think this is their best album yet, lyrically & musically. The best songs IMO are Broken Hearts Paradge, The River, Misery, Victims of Love, Where Would We Be Now...they are all really great. So if you want a great record to relate to & dance to...this is for you.

I don't even really listen to Good Charlotte (their style isnt my cup of tea) but I figured I would give this album a shot since I liked their single The River.....and I was right to take that shot. The first 7 songs on this album are solid...lyrics are nothing to right home about, but they get the job done...the music is definitely a step up from their previous efforts....I really dont know what people expect anymore....I think they expect too much, especially from bands like Good Charlotte.

Good Offerings,

I've read some of the other reviews of the album and I have to confess that I've never listened to any other Good Charlotte albums and that may account for my difference of opinion.
I think the album is very good! There are a couple songs on it that just miss. To me, Something Else and Dance Floor Anthem are rather poor. But I would say 7 tracks are very good. The remaining 4 are ok. My favorite track is Misery, the second track, which emerges out of the weak intro track with a simple, but powerful drum/guitar combination. If you came to the table expecting big things from the album based on their prior work, it seems like people have generally been disappointed. I listened with some new ears and found myself enjoying most of the album. It'll definitely be one I listen to regularly. My bottom line? If you've got extra cash to spend, buy it. If cash is a little tight, it's not great enough to pick-up.

This is my favorite from Good Charlotte.I wasn't a real big fan of their first two albums cause they sounded like any other pop-punk band. But I was hooked after I heard Chronicles.(If you want to know I bought the death version cause I liked it's bonus song way better than lifes.)Also on that note I like to say who gives a [...] if they made a song about how rich they were.I mean why did you buy it if you didn't like it.My favorite tracks areThe River,Misery,Something Else, and All black.

Best yet from Good Charlotte,
By Kate "kittyk8" (West Jordan, UT) - See all my reviews

I've been a fan of Good Charlotte from the beginning. They have a specific trademark: their music has always been a reflection of where they are in life. When they started out, they were high school kids working through their parents' divorce and being excluded in gym class, cruising the streets and dreaming of stardom. Their music has grown with them and this album is a reflection of where they are now. The songs on GMR are well-written, catchy, and soulful. Of course their sound will change as they get older and learn more about music - if it didn't, we would be complaining that they never grew up.
Give it a listen. I was pleasantly surprised. These songs really are great.

Great pop rock album,

One thing I can say about this band is that every one of their albums has been different from their previous ones. With GC's new release they move further away from any "punk" labels they may have acquired during their career. This album is pretty much just a great pop rock album. They also seem to have added a kind of 'dark disco' sound to their music which is prety cool. I really liked this. I have enjoyed all their albums even though they are all so different from each other.

Revival it is,

This album makes up for their bad taste, being sell outs by releasing The Chronicles. When I heard Revival I knew they've made great come back. Break her heart and Dance floor are my favorites. I recommend this album, though if you are the type that loves their origial punk rock style and doesn't like change, this might disappoint you.

Revival? Maybe...,

I bought "Good Morning Revival" mostly for curiosity's sake. A fan that's grown up from the time of their first two releases, I wasn't buying it for superior music quality over other popular bands of their genre.
"Good Morning Revival" is a fairly decent album, predictable and at times quite "pop-ish" and repetitive, but it doesn't really contain a terrible track, as songs, in my opinion, range from "okay" to "pretty good." The standouts are "The River," a song with surprising spiritual undertones and an infectious chorus, "Where Would We Be Now," a gentle love song with a beautiful piano melody, and "March On," an uplifting conclusion. Gone from this album are the overly angry, angst-filled anthems sometimes associated with the band, evidence they've matured and mellowed since "Young and the Hopeless" and even "Chronicles of Life and Death." All in all, it's a little too safe a step for a band whose hardcore fan base a few years ago is now probably outgrowing their music. With good single choices, however, it holds potential to attract new fans. 3.5/5 stars |
