While not the worst season of the hit show, you can see the shift in quality from the original three season. Ever since the movie(WHEN THE ORIGINAL CREW AND CREATOR LEFT) things have taken a turn for the worse. I would recommend you try those out if you are new to Spongebob. Growing up with the better episodes, (Survival of the idiots, Jellyfish Jam, Band Geeks) it is really disappointing that the show has fallen from grace. Don't get me wrong, this season is the better of the newer seasons, and is not as AWFUL as the ones to come. Coming from a life long fan of Spongebob, the REAL series ended after the movie as it was SUPPOSED to do so.

I still love SpongeBob and even this season held more than a few laughs. I loved "Ghost Host" and Mrs. Puff, you're Fired", and more than a few others, but "Chimps Ahoy", and "That's no Lady", "Rule of Dumb" and "Driven to tears" were not quite my favorites for some reason, although I would still watch them, if only to see the better ones in this season. "Fear of a Krabby Patty" was an absolute riot, while" Patrick SmartPants" came off as rather dull. My absolute favorite in this season, is "Lost Mattress". While there are none that I would miss, there are some that I favor over others. While there are some clinkers, this is still a good season though not quite its best.

In 2005, the 4th season of SpongeBob debuted on Nick to the delight of many fans young and old, and the dismay of some critics, on account of Steve Hillenburg not working on the show full-time anymore. It's still a huge hit in my book, just like all the other seasons of SpongeBob! During 2005, it was also when the first SpongeBob movie came to VHS & DVD, a whole bunch of Disney's animated features had home-video-sequels either released or announced for later releases (via Bambi 2 & Cinderella 3 in '06 and '07), classic Disneytoon shorts started to abound in hour-long DVD releases that used to be far cheaper & more plentiful than the Treasures tins, 4 different Digimon TV movies finally debuted in the USA (and remain unavailable on DVD here when I typed this), Rugrats had its first of only 2 Tales From the Crib movies only on VHS & DVD (Snow White), Avatar starts to conquer Friday nights on Nick (and I don't mean the tall blue people!), Disney's first all-CGI major animated feature comes to theatres (and being number 46 of its really-high-caliber canon); Chicken Little, and so did Pooh's Heffalump Movie (its Halloween sequel came to home video only 7 months after that)!Read more ›

seasons 1-3 were way better. they were much funnier and the storylines weren't as complex. the characters are too exagerated and few episodes are funny. get seasons 1-3 because the episodes are way better.
