4.0 out of 5 stars No pizazz
My 10 yr old grandson asked for this toy for Christmas. Although it was fun building it initially, it doesn't have as much "replay" value as other toys, like the Castle legos do. He did use some of its parts with his other Legos to make different things. He says it wasn't as much fun as he thought it would be, it has no "pizazz". He is a big SpongeBob fan, but this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Fragile, feels different than other sets
We have tons of lego sets, Star Wars, Mar Mission, Indiana Jones, etc. I bought all the Spongebob lego sets and we have had nothing but frustration with these. I have had to sit down and glue these pieces so they can play with them. The pieces feel lighter. They do love to play with the Spongebob and friends mini figures.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not one of Lego's better sets..., February 16, 2010

This is really a cute set. The crabby patties are just adorable, and the kids love playing with all the minifigures. However, this set takes a very long time to construct and once it's done, well, it just doesn't stay together very long at all and will not withstand much play. This one actually brought some tears because it just took SO much time and when it was done, fell apart so very quickly. If you're looking for the minifigures, then go ahead and try to find it on sale somewhere like we did. But if you're looking for a set that will withstand play, well, I'd suggest getting something like Indiana Jones or Power Miners.

However, I do recommend this set somewhat because of the uniqueness of it and I honestly think it will be a collector's item in time. But if you're looking for something that will withstand play, skip this one for sure and go for the more durable sets.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Kids Review for a Spongebob Lego Set, March 7, 2011

This is a pretty fun set that took a good amount of time to put together (5 hours) and the minifigures are cool and so are patricks car spongebobs leaf blower and squidwards grill. The main problem is that the pineapple is very hard (and annoying) to put together. This would be a good set for people above the age of 9 with lots of patience (like me) if you can get around the annoying pineapple then the set is pretty fun. and also when i ordered the set 2 pieces were missing :(

however even though there are some big flaws with the set i would recommend it

Kids that love the show with love this set. My 8yr old saved his allowance to buy it. Lego instructions are very user friendly, which is great because the kids can build this on their own and not need an adult to do it for them. Their toy, their accomplishment.

1.0 out of 5 stars A gift only a Grinch could love, December 25, 2011

This review is from: Good Neighbors at Bikini Bottom (Toy)
This is easily the worst toy i've gotten my kids. Endlessly frustrating and outrageously overpriced-- The package did NOT contain at least two dozen custom pieces, nor the custom decals. Putting it together even partially proved a singularly frustrating engineering nightmare--pieces did not fit snugly (or in some cases even at all). LEGO's are not exactly sturdy playsets in any case, but considering the age group for SPONGEBOB (a seven year old in this case), one would expect something not to fall apart every time you looked at it. LEGO has many imaginative new toy lines but what on earth is the point if the experience of assembly is miserable, irritating and yields a toy that should come with a "DO NOT TOUCH-EVER!!!" sign for completion? Buyer beware: YOU'LL BE SORRY. (Did not purchase thru Amazon, just putting the word out there...)

Pretty nice toy. Good detail, etc. Kinda hard to construct for a seven year old, but heck, that's the fun, isn't it??
