Kathy Mattea's lovely, strong vocals, coupled with uplifting arrangements, make Good News an especially rich and deep spiritual testament. "There's a New Kid in Town" is the highpoint of this 1993 outing, but "Christ Child's Lullaby" and the title track really showcase the soulful and smart Mattea. One Sunday morning I woke to "Mary, Did You Know," and immediately began to search for this album. The chills generated by the line, "Mary did you know when you kissed your little baby then you kissed the face of God" are still there everytime I listen to it. I didn't realize what a wonderful voice Kathy Mattea had until exposed to this music. The selection of songs is superb, most of which I had never heard. Every family should have a copy, it might help them appreciate more the most perfect gift God gave to the world, and the gift of music and talented artists such as are embodied in this presentation. It will certainly be on my gift list for family and friends.

I bought this CD after hearing Kathy Mattea sing "Mary Did You Know" on a Whitehouse Christmas Celebration on television. I could not forget the song so I tracked down the album and was thrilled with it. Every song on the album is wonderful. I can listen to it year round. The songs have so much meaning and really touch my heart. I would recommend this album for Kathy Mattea fans and for anyone who loves Christian Christmas music.

Kathy Mattea's 1993 Christmas album is an amazing piece of work. Unlike most Christmas albums with a mix of old and new songs, Good News has a theme which it follows throughout. There is nothing cute or cuddly about this album, but don't let that scare you away because it's one of the best modern albums of its kind around. Each song on the album illustrates the impact Christ's life has made in the world, and it is indeed, good news! From "What A Wonderful Beginning" to the title track, "Good News," the music, lyrics, and arrangements are exemplary. Mattea, known best as a country music singer, proves she's an artist of great depth with this project. Good News deserves to part of your Christmas music collection.

GOOD NEWS
I thoroughly enjoy this music. I very much enjoy Christian music and I like Kathy Mattea's voice. A couple of the songs really speak to me.

I expected more
I bought this CD for the rendition of "Mary, Did you know?". Prefer the male singer (Trent de White)rendition. This song is my all time favorite one.

Good News by Kathy Mattea
This is my favorite Christmas Album. It is non-traditional Christian Christmas song, sung by a talented alto songstess. I love it.
