is that jazz?pop?rock or what, stick with the cd 2 shots, even if considered a vocal album, it does not appeal,on the positive side it is well produced and upbeat.

A must have for any Matt Dusk fan. This CD is so much fun, and a bit different from his previous albums, but his wonderful voice still stands out. If you are new to the "Matt Dusk sound" this will be a good place to start, bringing a great jazz voice to a few different beats, and one classic jazz/pop standard to connect to the other 3 albums (The Way It Is, Back in Town, and Two Shots).

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!,

This guy had so much promise a few years ago...WHAT HAPPENED? This new CD is filled with drivel. The sound is obnoxious and the lyrics are for the "bubble gum" crowd. I mean with a song titled "Don't Hate ON Me" you know the focus group this guy is going after now.
He started out strong with his "Two Shots" CD and it has been painfully downhill since then. So sad.

What Might Have Been...,

Matt had the potential to be a modern Sinatra. More raw talent then most his career is now in the crash & burn stage, singing primarily in small Canadian and Mid-Western hotels and casinos to audiences filled with blue-haired, polyester-wearing women and their reluctant husbands. Matt's TWO SHOTS album made you say "Buble' Who?", and every cool young guy from New York to Vegas had his music on their daily playlists. And then came album #2...
For some insane reason Dusk chose to move away from the kind of sound that made him a hit and move to (gasp) SHOWTUNES! I mean, picture a guy who has champagne, candelight and a beautiful woman in his arms, and then "Get Me To The Church On Time" comes on the Matt CD? Talk about losing street cred! And even when he tried a Sinatra classic Matt felt he had to re-interpret it in a smarmy, dishonest way -- unlike fellow Canadian Michael Buble', who embraces and believes in both Frank and an honest interpretation of The Great American Songbook... I may be wrong or overly harsh on Matt, but check out the location and size of Dusk's next apearance and then try to even get a ticket to any of Buble's many 15,000 seat concerts. Matt Dusk's TWO SHOTS is one of the coolest, stylized, jazziest and romantic albums ever -- I and many of my friends listen to it constantly. But every album of Matt's since TWO SHOTS are just embarressments. Sorry Matt, I still believe in you but its time to get your act together...

Well it has seemed forever between cd's for Matt. And then just like that I looked and the cd was over! That's how good this cd is. If I may describe it as jazzy, a little funky, smooth and classy and lovely. The cover shows Matt sitting and smiling as well as he should be because he knocked one out of the park with this one. But much more appreciated is the personal note from Matt inside front booklet cover. This cd is highly recommended!

Amazing upbeat album!,
This review is from: Good News (Deluxe Edition) (MP3 Download)
I haven't been a fan of Matt Dusk from the beginning, as many others who wrote reviews have been. I discovered his CDs a few years ago and have been a fan since then. I have to admit that I have always preferred his more upbeat songs from his old CDs, I thought it showcased his voice in an amazing way more so than the slower, more melodic, songs. With that being said, Good News is primarily upbeat songs and so this is my favorite CD of his. I will listen to more of these songs than I would have listened to his other CDs. I also love it when artists tend to reinvent themselves with new CDs and I would say Matt has done that. He kept the jazzy feel that his other CDs had, but also added a new element to it. Two thumbs up from me.

Matt Dusk is a live performer who records, not the other way around. He has a good time with "Good News" with an interesting selection of tunes. He's always enjoyable and it's good to have another of his CDs in release.
