When little Nori can’t sleep, he gets out of bed to see what his friends are up to. The animals are all resting, but they try to help Nori out. Lotti Lamb gives him some dry meadow grass to puff up his pillow, and Henrietta Hen gives him a dream feather so he can have peaceful dreams. Ella Elephant gives Nori her little toy elephant to be his companion, and Petey Pig tells him to listen out the window for all the stories the stars can tell him. Sure enough, when Nori returns to bed, he drifts off into a sweet-smelling, feather-light, star-filled slumber. A perfect bedtime story to help show little ones how to nod off.

PreS—Nori is a sweet black-and-white kitten who can't go to sleep. He tosses and turns and then wanders out to the meadow to see his friends. Several creatures each give him something to help with his problem: a bag of "sweet dry grass from the meadow" for a pillow, a "dream feather," a toy elephant. Finally, Nori returns to bed, ready to fall asleep after a bedtime story from the moon and stars shining through his window. The text is short and repetitive, allowing children to predict what will come next. The animals are cuddly, with even the pig contentedly wallowing in mud. The midnight-blue sky is dotted with yellow stars. This story might help comfort young children who are struggling to sleep, but it's an additional purchase.—Susan E.
