This is a fun little book. The reviewer who was upset that this book isn't deep literature seems to have missed the point. This isn't the next great children's book for the ages, and doesn't intend to be. It's a fun little book that shows off some of the cool things around Seattle, saying "good day" or "good evening" or "good night" to each one. Yes, it's a formula, but it works, and the illustrations are great.

We received this book as a gift to our child while visiting friends there, and it was interesting to look through it and see some of the things we'd already done, or intended to do, and got some ideas for next time. If you're getting a kid excited about a trip and want to involve them in planning a bit it's not a bad way to present some of the neat things about Seattle. We'll probably pick up some of the other books in the series before our next trip.

My husband and I have lived in Seattle our whole lives, are proud of our culture, and are so excited to raise our kids here. We have good friends who live in Cape Cod, and our baby is due around the same time as theirs. They sent us the Good Night Cape Cod book, and we'll be sending them Good Night Seattle. It's a fun, simple way to introduce our little ones to a bit of their auntie & uncle's culture across the nation.

And I agree with Douglas regarding the negative reveiw; this isn't meant to be a literary classic. It's a sweet little toddler book. Add some Kipling or L. Frank Baum to round out your child's collection, but don't expect it from a touristy board book.

I found this book originally at SEA airport when my son was 6 months old and we were traveling. We live in Seattle, and my son, now 10 months old, absolutely adores this. He won't go to sleep unless I read this to him, and it has to be the last book I read to him before he goes to bed. I love the bright pictures, and having about 2 lines of words per page has been just right for his age thus far (6-10 months). There area lot of things to talk about on each page, including the illustrated families and pets. the actual landmarks themselves, time of day (e.g. morning, afternoon, sunset, night), and the weather (it is Seattle after all, so having it rain outside the Seattle public library is really quite relevant!). There are also images of beautiful sunny days with views of Mount Rainier, Puget Sound and Lake Washington as well.

I plan to buy other books in the series for the cities and states we either travel to, or that have special meaning to us (e.g. cities in the US I lived in before my son was born). When I was young, if my Dad travelled for business, he would always buy me a book when he was away and read it to me the first night that he was home. It made me feel very special like he was still thinking of me and was planning something special for when he came back. I'm going to start the same tradition with my son. I wish they could add more books for other world countries and cities though.

This is the third or fourth copy we have given out of this book. It is a great look at a lot of the fun sites and attractions around Seattle. They give a great feel for life in the Emerald City. Would recommend to anyone with a toddler. Great bedtime story.

Good Night Seattle is one of the best in the series. Our granddaughter, not in Seattle can learn about all of our wonderful places. A good gift!

This book is so sweet. I bought it for an adult and for a toddler. They both love the book because it reminds them of what they saw in Seattle.
