one of my favorites,

This review is from: A Good Night Walk (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful book -- beautiful, detailed illustrations with gentle wording. Unfortunately, it has a little more appeal to adults. When we received it as a gift, my husband and I liked it right away, but our older daughter (then 1 1/2) was not especially interested. Our younger daughter found it at a similar age and fell in love with it too, much to our delight. She enjoyed finding the small images in the pictures and following them throughout the story. To summarize, this is a great book but not sure to enchant every child. We've tried many of this author's books and this is by far the best.

Good Bedtime Story,

Nice bedtime read. Liked how the pictures started out bright and get darker as evening approaches. Kids enjoyed it.

The idea for this book is really genius, and the author has drawn such beautiful and nuanced images to convey the winding down of day. The pictures have an architectural feel that makes them seem more grown-up than the average good night book, and lots of interesting details to notice read after read. The only thing that keeps this book from being perfect, in my mind, is that the words don't quite match the lovely flow of the images. Still, a standout.

Quiet, relaxing book,

My son loves this book. It's quiet and closed-ended, which is a good thing for a child winding down for bedtime or nap. A child and parent walk down the block and back, observing what is along the way. My son is only two, but points out things he notices, theories as to what people or animals are doing (he thinks the cat wants to eat apples), etc. He has asked me to read it to him three or four times in a row. Great quiet-time book for a young child.

In the spirit of Good Night Moon, this book is charming in its simplicity. Fabulous for introducing new words and concepts to little ones, the slow pace make this a good choice for winding down at bedtime.

A child and parent take a walk down their street, enjoying the sights and smells of the evening, which is captured in simple one-line observations in A Good Night Walk. From neighbor activities to racing squirrels and boats on the bay, A Good Night Walk provides an easy view of evening.
