I am Addicted! This is Another Great Album by a great band. I am constantly Listening to it and it has become a part of my most played albums on iTunes. I really can't wait to see them Live, they give such a great energy. I couldn't say I have a Favorite song off of this album but you'll understand once you buy it. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A strong second turnout, June 1, 2010

Good Old War comes out with another great album. The self titled album showcases their growth and skill as musicians together. it incorporates more complex rhythms and riffs while adding in the accordion to drummer Tim Arnold's line up of instruments (which already includes the keys and vocals). their vocal melodies are still perfectly in tune and actually take it beyond their Simon-and-Garfunkel-esque harmonies. Songs like "My Own Sinking Ship" and "I Should Go" retain the same, catchy style that they brought out in their first album. The album also shows off drummer Tim Arnold's (arguably my favorite drummer of all time) not only drum skills, but skills as a versatile musician and vocalist. He brings back some of the showing off with rhythms and subtleties that he drew me in with as a kid in Days Away.

But where it falls is in some of their new style, some songs such as "Sneaky Louise" are a bit too folksy and cute sounding for me, at least, to take completely seriously. It just reminds me of my ex-hippy 40-year-old, male nanny when i was growing up. But it redeems itself in its new songs like "That's Some Dream," "My Name's Sorrow," and "Get Some" bring forth a new style, which clearly draws from their previous work, but adds in some of that classic folk sound, with some slightly darker vocal melodies and instrumental compositions which really bring back a new style that keeps them at the front of my favorite musicians list.

We saw Good Old War at the Cleveland House of Blues when we saw Xavier Rudd. I bought both of their CD's and absolutely love them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't get enough, October 10, 2010

I like this CD - a lot. In the month or so that I've owned Good Old War, I've listened to it dozens and dozens of times and like it all the more each time. I hate to sound so gushy, but I have nothing bad to say about the CD. Even the filler tracks, Good, Old, and War, are enjoyable to listen to. I've recommended the CD to several others, and will continue to do so. I'm curious to hear some of their other work now, but until then, I'll keep listening to this self-titled CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great car listening, September 24, 2010

Worth the price just for "That's Some Dream" --and the fun album art. This album a nice peppy-folky thing going for it. Some of it reminds me a little of Freedy Johnston and songs like "Thanksgiving" by Poi Dog Pondering. I have it on in the car a lot. Didn't blow me a way or revolutionize sound for me. But I'd say it's worth a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Sophomore Slump for Good Old War!, June 7, 2010

Their second album is a wonderful listen from beginning to end and front to back. For only $5.99 its a steal too! These guys have an amazing way with beautiful lyrics and harmonies. This album, like their last is just perfect summer music to sit around a campfire. My personal favorite right now is "That's Some Dream". They are one folk/rock group that you should be getting more attention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Old War, June 6, 2010
This album is definitley worth buying! Good Old War are going to go very far and topped their previous album "Only Way To Be Alone" (which is also great). These guys really know what they're doing and this album proves it. Every track shows the hard workl they put into this. Great job. Go see them live too, they'll blow you away. -A&G

4.0 out of 5 stars Great harmonies!, June 6, 2010

If not for the deal of the day when it was available for $2.99, I would have missed what is a very good album! I listened to a few samples, and was immediately impressed by this band. Needless to say, I downloaded it and have already listened to it several times. This is solid throughout, although "Here Are the Problems" stands out for me. Recommended to anyone who likes Fleet Foxes, or to go way back- Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Their debut "Only Way To Be Alone" is also one of the $5.00 deals for June- do yourself a favor and pick that one up, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful harmonies- EXCELLENT album!, June 2, 2010
This album is spectacular! First of all, the layout is really innovative. The three shorter tracks titled good, old, and war respectively are poetically woven into the album and exhibit beautiful, instrument-focused melodies designed, I think, to showcase their creativity. Though it's the same 3 guys, each song has a really different feel, and they did a great job in choosing a variety of moods and rhythms of the songs. The harmonies are glorious, as usual, and the perfection that is attained in this album is what music is all about. I just cannot stop myself from listening to this, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!!
