A must - have for Gene Watson fans !!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Good Ole Days (Audio CD)
Another superb record by a traditional country artist. The finest song on this album is "Change Her Mind". One couldn't find a better example of a "country" song. It ranks right up there with the classics of all times, and is probably Gene Watson's finest work to date. A couple of oldies but goodies are re-cut(Speak Softly and Love In The Hot Afternoon), along with the classic "Getting Over You Again". Too bad more music like this never makes it to "country" radio.

Great CD, I love everything Gene Watson sings so I am partial to anything he sings. This is a must have CD. I especially like "You Pushed Me To The Limit", "The Man That Broke Your Heart" and "I Don't Need A Thing At All". but I listen to all of the songs.

Watson still has that great voice. "Change her mind" should have been an instant classic!,

Here among some great album cuts are Watson's last two songs to chart. In 1997 they were released on this album only, so there is no such thing as b-sides. 1. "Change her mind" just missed the top 40. 2. "No goodbyes" bearly entered into the top 100. Adding these two songs to a long list of hits gives Watson 48 charted songs from 1975 to 1997. This is a very good watson set, even though there are 3 of his originals here that are recut. Still it seems to be the only place to get those two releases! Seems of later years it's not as much about great talent as it is about profit. "Change her mind" sould have been an instant classic. It's as good as you can get! Watson still has that great voice we've come to count on, the one that takes us to our worst heartache, or our most cherished memories! This is a VERY good Watson album. |
