Clever,

This is a clever device. All studies show that cats train better through rewards and not punishments, which is why I bought this.
It really only took my cat a day to learn to use this scratching post. My problem is that he has learned to push the outer tube up so that it falls on the lever and drops food. He also has a tendency to bite it instead of scratch it to get food. I have yet to see him actually scratch it. I think this product needs to be a bit taller for it to really be used as a scratching post, but it's a great idea, and if you really work with your cat you may be able to get him to use it as it ought to be. The fact that you can fill the bottom with litter or sand to keep it stable also really helps.

Cat didn't care for it. Never used it as a scratcher. Broke within a month, and is now adding to a landfill's contents. Terrible purchase; I would not recommend it.

It did not work for me - my cats just would not use it. It wasn't alone - I had 5 cat scratchers until I finally found one that they would use. My cats might be a little too picky.

Seemed like a good idea. Too bad the cats disagreed. They loved playing in the box, even without getting a treat from the scratching post.

Pavlov's conditioned response,

Any product that deters declawing deserves the highest rating. I purchased Pavlov's Cat Scratch Feeder to train two Siamese kittens after learning that declawing is akin to cutting off half of the toe and not just removing the claws. Declawing is mutilation. This product is filled with food or treats and delivers a spring controlled reward when kitty scratches. Cats are smart and easy to train with the help of this innovative scratch feeder.
