5.0 out of 5 stars Lives up to its title!
I have this book on a 30-day preview and it's on a mental future purchases list. I've been pleased and excited by it. Every "good thing" from those on the endpapers to the sidebars are wonderfully do-able ideas. I'm planning to use a few (the finish-your-own-lemonade setup and flower/blossom on a napkin are two) for an upcoming birthday dinner. This book is an...

Martha Steward is a classic. She is a strong woman that I admire. This book however is lacking substance. I flip through it and so just couple of nice advices.

This book is an excellent introduction to entertaining in a new, yet only-Martha way. I also highly recommend Good Things, Arranging Flowers, Comfort Food, and Desserts, all four of them in The Best of Martha Stewart Living series as companions to this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly practical, February 25, 2004

This is a great book to look at and a great source for ideas. Most of the ideas are very practical and easy to do (the tin can lanterns and the terra cotta candle holders are great examples), and even those which take more work (for example, the plank trivet) are well worth the work. There are only a few ideas here which are impractical, and at least they result in great photographs. I'm going to use some of these ideas at my next party.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific book filled with "good things"!, March 17, 2004

In spite of Martha Stewart's recent troubles, her legacy continues with this splendid book. It is fresh, intelligent and packed full of great tips and ideas for the entertainer who wants to make a splash without spending a fortune. The thing I like about Martha Stewart's approach is her emphasis on simple abundance--the notion that you can achieve good results through creativity and ingenuity. I think those who want to criticize Ms. Stewart should consider how many people she has inspired through this approach to good living!

4.0 out of 5 stars One of Martha's latest entertaining books, January 28, 2008
This review is from: Good Things for Easy Entertaining: The Best of Martha Stewart Living (Paperback)
This book is so much better than Martha's very first entertaining book (called MARTHA STEWART ENTERTAINING). The ideas are up to date and follow the same format as most of Martha's "GOOD THINGS" series.

The reason I give this book four stars instead of five is because of the price. This book is a soft-cover book and in my opinion should have been priced lower by the publishers. I paid full price for this book and probably should have waited until it went on sale. However, if a reader is interested in a book as soon as it first comes out, then thy will have to pay full-price. But, possibly, now that the book has been out for a while, you may be able to find this book at discount, and if so, then it's worth a SALE price.

The photos are inspiring and amazing. The photos themselves will inspire the reader to organize a party. The ideas are seasonal, from Winter to Summer. The recipes are easy to duplicate(in my opinion), although some are not for the average novice.

The art projects are very clever. There are enough craft ideas shown in this book that a reader could find at the very least a few useful and doable projects.

I love throwing parties and was looking for some clever and easy ways to dress up my table. I did get some ideas. It's not the best entertaining book out there but I do think it was worth the money.
