Del Wood just isn't remembered the way she deserves to be these days; in her heyday she recorded several record albums and her piano playing skills proved she was one of the best, especially when it came to playing popular music from the 1920s and sometimes other periods in history. Del plays piano beautifully on this album and she is ably assisted by other musicians although the arrangements are such that Del's piano playing remains front and center; and this makes each and every number that much better. You can expect to hear great playing on the brass and other instruments depending on the number being performed.Del's skill at piano playing easily creates visions in my mind of what those days gone by must have been like; and she plays with so much positive energy that it's tough to listen just once and then put the CD away to gather dust. This is also a fine CD for anyone who lived through those years and wants to remember the "good old days" with some high quality control music that is just as catchy and entertaining today as it ever was. I tip my hat to the reviewer who provided people with the track listing for the CD; and I highly recommend this album for anyone who wants to enjoy terrific memories! Moreover, people just discovering popular music from the 1920s and more will not be disappointed; this album is the perfect springboard for more than just a casual, passing interest in some great music from a fascinating period in time. |
