Terrific Anthology, September 27, 2006

Norwegian band Stage Dolls couldn't have picked a better name for their 2-disc "best of" collection. Good Times perfectly sums up the kind of upbeat, feel-good AOR/pop/rock that this tragically overlooked band has been delivering since 1982. Calling the Stage Doll's music "radio friendly" seems like a joke since no radio station would ever touch it. This is a shame, because the band's softer-edged rock would certainly appeal to anyone who enjoys bands like Journey, the Outfield, the Gin Blossoms, and the Goo Goo Dolls.
Good Times - the Essential Stage Dolls provides a great overview of the band's career, spread across two CDs. The best part is that all of the tracks have been digitally remastered, so they sound terrific. If you're already a Stage Dolls fan, you'll want to hear these songs with new and improved sound. If you're not a fan, I highly recommend checking this set out. Chances are you'll be a fan before the first disc is finished.
