"It's been an incredible ride. I played this game to win a championship. I'm a champion, and I think the Bus's last stop is here in Detroit."
-JEROME BETTIS, after Super Bowl XL
You'll read stories about the great rivalries with clubs such as Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Oakland, and about the classic match-ups with the Baltimore Colts and New York Giants. You'll learn about Chuck Noll and those first four Super Bowls, and his inimitable defensive coordinator Bud Carson, the man behind the Steel Curtain. And, of course, you'll get a refreshing look at the square-jawed leadership of Bill Cowher and his permanent induction into Steelers lore after winning Super Bowl XL--adding a fifth Lombardi Trophy to the Steelers' sterling collection.
But as the title suggests, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Pittsburgh Steelers also touches on some of the organization's low points. Memorable miseries include how the team got rid of two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks in the 1950s, the 1976 team's missed opportunity thank to untimely injuries, and the chilling 1994 playoff loss to San Diego, among others.
If you're a through-thick-and-thin Steelers fan, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Pittsburgh Steelers is especially for you. It will remind you of the great times, and bring a knowing smile to your face when recounting the bad times. Championships and close losses; Hall of Fame players and big-time busts; on-the-field triumphs and of-the-field tragedies--all the best stories from Steelers history are here.

Steeler Nation,
By Yvonne Phillips FSII (Pittsburgh, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly Pittsburgh Steelers: Heart-pounding, Jaw-dropping, and Gut-wrenching Moments from Pittsburgh Steelers History (Hardcover)
Jim Wexell has done a suburb job on giving you all the little extra details that we fans in Pittsburgh absolutely love! I also am a big fan of Troy Polamalu and I had to laugh at the interview that he has on page 102, typical Polamulu! But I also became very respectful of the life he has led as a child and all of the challenges he faced growing up. This is a treasure of information for any Steeler fan. There are stories of fans getting into trouble on game days and lots of details on our star players and their families that you will definitely enjoy!

A Perfect Start to Any Steeler Season,

I recommend starting off every season with this book. Knowing where the Steelers came from and all the detail of the 1970s is a must. From the immaculate reception to the Bus making history in Detroit, the history of the Steelers is covered. More importantly, the years prior to the 70s are detailed and knowing that history gives the Steelers fan more appreciation for what happened in the 70s and faith there is more to come.

I bought this for a Christmas present for my son who is serving in Iraq. I know he will love it because he is a huge Pittsburg fan.
