Some interesting, but largely repetitive,

This review is from: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly Seattle Seahawks: Heart-Pounding, Jaw-Dropping, and Gut-Wrenching Moments from Seattle Seahawk History (The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly) (Hardcover)
As a Seahawks fan and a transplant to the Seattle area, I was not completely familiar with the history of the team. I did know that they were started in the mid to late 70s (my NFL bedspread from my childhood did not include them or Tampa Bay) and that they have changed conferences. With that, I was interested to see what the history included.
Some names and events I am familiar with. No Seahawks fan can think of the team without thinking of Steve Largent (or provides a foreword for the book). Dave Krieg is mentioned a lot, but Hasselbeck is mentioned much less, which is to be expected given the short history. With time, a future edition will have more of Hasselbeck. Little is said of Jon Kitna or Jim Zorn. This leads to a problem. Given the short history, the book is organized not in chronological order, but grouped into categories that had a lot of repetition. I read about the hit to Largent and his payback in more than one spot. In another section, I read about how Shaun Alexander missed a quarter of a game due to the birth of his daughter. The problem was that I read about this four different times within three pages. This was distracting. Seahawks fans will want to read this just to learn a little more about the team and to reminisce about some of the high and low points.

I am a young Seahawks season ticket holder, so I thought this book would give me some more history since much of it happened when I was very young. There was hardly a thing in this book I had not heard of before. This would have been fine if it was written well, but the writing is so poor that it can't keep you entertained. I was really hoping from some locker room stories or something "from the inside," but it never came. The author clearly is not a Seahawks fan or likely from Seattle. Just someone trying to make a buck.
To sum it up in one sentence--It is uninspired writing that gives a brief history of our franchise with little to offer anyone who knows a bit about Seahawks football. Go HAWKS!

If you can remember a King dog with a King beer, then this book was written for you! Well written, funny, and full of memories a true Seahawk fan will love!
