5.0 out of 5 stars One sex book, lots of Ideas!
I really liked this book because it didn't make assumptions about my sexual orientation or what kinds of things I should like sexually. It just sort of presented a whole lot of options, and laid them out like a big feast, and then invited me to taste whatever I wanted. I have trouble coming with my partner, so I found the information about using vibrators with partners,...

The Good Vibrations Guide to Better Sex must be taken in its context. While it does a fabulous job on philosophy and manages to appeal (and include!) everyone on the sexual spectrum, it is disappointingly light on technique. 3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Review, December 8, 1999

The Good Vibrations Guide to Better Sex must be taken in its context. While it does a fabulous job on philosophy and manages to appeal (and include!) everyone on the sexual spectrum, it is disappointingly light on technique. If you are of the more jaded persuasion and are fairly comfortable with your body and sexual appetites, this is not the book for you (there is not much to reccommend it in the way of new information). I was impressed to see that the sex toy section of the book was of notable length and expertise (but these are the folks who do it best) and to encounter the totally unapologetic enthusiasm for the kinkier aspects of the art of sex. It is a good guide for those starting out, but not of much use to the more experienced participant. (However helping out the good gals of Good Vibes is always a worthy cause!)

I really liked this book because it didn't make assumptions about my sexual orientation or what kinds of things I should like sexually. It just sort of presented a whole lot of options, and laid them out like a big feast, and then invited me to taste whatever I wanted. I have trouble coming with my partner, so I found the information about using vibrators with partners, and enjoying mutual masturbation, really helpful. I also got some good ideas for better oral sex, which is kinda intimidating to me. I like this sex book because I can go back to it whenever I want to learn something new.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your sex book, not your mother's., October 21, 1998
By A Customer
This book is packed with real information about the 90's (and beyond) views on sex. There is helpful information on all sorts of activities for all styles, orientations, and pleasures. Not only does it explore techniques to enhance your sex life, it touches on taboo topics that other manuals like to ignore. This book touches on all possible topics. As a therapist, I believe that there is no manual on the market that will be more important for both singles and couples as this one. Read it, learn it, and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars the one to buy, August 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Good Vibrations Guide to Sex: The Most Complete Sex Manual Ever Written (Paperback)
There's a lot of sex "guides" out there these - browse the rest but buy this one. Entertaining to read and comprehensive - a book that can answer questions and pique curiousity as well. I really love reading the qoutes from people about their own experiences - they give this book a ring of authenticity and sincerity of purpose that's rare in this world. You also get the feeling that the authors are pretty rigorous in their research and not all invested promoting one "right" magic-bullet way to achieve sexual pleasure. There's something in this book for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Sex Book Ever, June 23, 1999

If you've got a libido, you must get this book. This is by far the best sex guide out there. Forget all those hokey, soft-focus sex books that line bookstore shelves---this is the only one you need. A book for all orientations, this one covers techniques both mundane and unusual, health, sex toys, videos, erotica, the internet and more! Includes lots of great illustrations and a handy collection of addresses and resources in the back. Finally, a guide to sex in the real world!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best single volume sex manual out there, June 13, 2000
Ahhh, this is how to do a sex manual.

What I particularly love it is that it makes so few assumptions about whether you're bisexual, gay, lesbian or straight.

An extremely wide range of activities for consenting adults is presented in a way that makes you happy to try them or go "nah, not for me" without feeling bad either way.

That's not to say the book couldn't be better. The line drawings are a bit twee, and the resources section is almost entirely US-based. I've also seen a comment complaining that the authors seem to think the question is not "should I have a sex toy?" but "how many sex toys should I have?". Well, yes, but they do (did?) work at a particularly lovely sex toy shop.

This review is from: The Good Vibrations Guide to Sex: The Most Complete Sex Manual Ever Written (Paperback)
This is a wonderfully written book. There is a section for every person to find something of interest. There are several new things to learn here. It is written in a very mature fashion and doesn't make you feel uncomfortable whatever your reading about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, great for novices and the "jadded", September 4, 1999
By A Customer
Great book, well written , well detailed and organized. There is a lot of information even for the more "jadded" . Although, I wish they would have more diagrams in their next edition. If this book was at the bedside across America I think we would all be much better off :).

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential, March 11, 2006
This review is from: The Good Vibrations Guide to Sex: The Most Complete Sex Manual Ever Written (Paperback)
If you are looking for accurate, creative and mature information about the sex this is the book to buy. It is great on its own. My boyfriend and I like to try new things they describe that we are both interested in. There is something for everyone in the book. It is written so that you can take take what interests you and leave the rest. Written in a concise manner and extremely accurate information. It is a great complanion also to more visual books like position manuals or erotica. Definitely recommeded.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's in the name COMPLETE!!, December 29, 2005
This book is honestly the most thorough guide I have come across for sex. Far beyond just typical, and not so typical, intercourse facts! I loved the chapters that dealt with fantasies and S&M. I knew the book was special when I checked the index before purchasing it to see that it actually acknowledges female ejaculation!! This is an elusive topic and an even more elusive event in most women's sex lives and I was so pleased to see a book that will educate partners to help achieve this mind blowing effect! A fantastic book that all of my girlfriends have now read after my recommendation.
