Excellent First Album!!,
By Allie (Boston, MA, USA) - See all my reviews

The first track off The Alternate Routes' album "Good and Reckless and True" may be called "Ordinary" but this album is anything but. It is strong from start to finish, with a good balance of beat-driven, rock-y songs and other softer, smoother ones. It would not surprise me to hear most any of these songs start to make appearances on those popular TV shows that are famous for making small artists household names - Gray's Anatomy, Scrubs, Laguna Beach. It would be well deserved for this album and band to get some attention in this way. For those who need a comparison to well-known bands I'd say The Alternate Routes are very similar to Switchfoot and The Fray; they are a less quirky Death Cab, David Gray with a beat, Foo Fighters with a little less edge and Guster with less pop and bongos. However, they are above all their own band, and a very talented one at that. I definitely recommend buying this album!

Good and Recommended and New - The Alternate Routes' new CD,
By ChristyG (Odessa, TX USA) - See all my reviews

This is a fantastic new album. I think The Alternate Routes combine a little of an alternative, pop-style melody and lyrics that I like about Toad the Wet Sprocket while offering the same guitar-driven sound of Aqua Lung. It's hard to pick a favorite tune because I like every song on this CD, but the lead track, "Ordinary," "Time Is A Runaway," and "Please Don't Let It Be" stand out to me as incredibly good. Good and Reckless and True is music with a great beat, great accoustic and electric guitar work against excellent lyrics. I highly recommend it.

Wow! One of a kind!,
This review is from: Good & Reckless & True (Audio CD)
How lucky was I to happen across The Alternate Routes myspace page and hear "Time Is A Runaway"? Very lucky indeed; their debut album is 100% gold. This band has a fresh sound, and surely has great things in store.. I can't wait for the tour now!
