Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Scott, who has dance and physical education degrees, says 80 percent of Americans will have lower back pain, a figure that is supported by The American Medical Association's Book of Backcare ( LJ 4/15/82). Scott states that most back problems are traceable to soft tissue involvement (which, unfortunately, the AMA book does not highlight). Advocating a balance between flexibility and strength of the deep musculature of the psoas, lower back, and abdominal regions, she outlines four progressively more difficult "workouts"the only good reason to purchase this book. Other sections (e.g., aerobics and diet) are inadequate. Robert Jordan, Iowa Testing Programs Lib., Univ. of Iowa, Iowa City
