I should have read the reviews, it would have saved me a lot of trouble. I didnt know that the ends are 3/8 and not 1/2" I ordered all of my fittings for that size and now I cant use them. my mistake but it should have something in description.

Now this is an air hose! It's overkill for everyday applications, but the quality is great. I bought one of these five years ago, and I use it to connect the compressor (in the back of the garage) to my filter and regulator (in the front of the garage) - I didn't want to bother with running pipe for such a short distance. But aside from specialty applications where you absolutely have to minimize pressure drop, this hose is more than you'll need. If, for whatever reason, you DO need a 1/2" hose, then you'll be happy with this one. Otherwise, buy the yellow 3/8" model - that's a great hose, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Hose to move large volumes of air, April 16, 2004

This review is from: GoodYear 047 1/2-Inch x 50-Foot Rubber Industrial Hose - Red (Tools & Home Improvement)
As the previous review stated, this hose is overkill for everyday applications, such as connecting air nailers, sanders and such to the source. I use this hose to move large volumes of air from my compressor to my regulator on the jobsite to minimize pressure drop and supply the maximum amount of air to the multiple tools connected to the regulator. That being said, if you are only going to attach tools directly to a compressor, buy the 3/8" which is lighter weight, easier to manuver and less costly. Given the size, the hose is slightly heavy to attach to a framing nailer and a little cumbersome to wrap up at the end of the day.

UPDATE - JULY 2010: Hose is still working great. No leaks. Now my oldest hose by far and used frequently.

This 50' hose is perfect for my purposes, and was priced well below what local retailers were asking. I was advised to stay away from "no-name" brands, and this hose carries the GoodYear name at a great price.

Great hose as reviewed by others.
It has 3/8" threads which is not mentioned.
I thought it would have 1/2 inch threads but
still fine for my usage.

Can't beat Goodyear rubber hose for air or water use. Superior to no-name import rubber hoses which can have a strong petroleum smell, this hose is Goodyear "Horizon" synthetic rubber. Rubber is superior to PVC for cold weather, below 50 degrees F PVC can get very stiff, while rubber is supple and lays flat. Polyurethane hose is another good option, much lighter than rubber, and good in cold weather, but rubber has even less shape memory, so I don't mind the extra weight, urethane hose is very expensive also. Working up a ladder with the weight of the hose hanging down then I'd want urethane. But both rubber and polyurethane are far better than PVC hose for any purpose though. Also this hose has 3/8" NPT threaded ends, not 1/2", description really should say that in case you have 1/2" fittings. Cheers!

The items were shipped quickly and they work excellent!! Use mainly for winterizing underground sprinkler systems and farming during the summer months, so they get a wide variety of applications. I would recommend these to anyone who really needs a quality air hose.

Installed this hose for my air compressor in my cold Michigan garage. Works great in cold weather so I know it will work in warm weather on my hose reel.

After wasting time and money on cheaper hoses, I decided to spend a little more. Time will tell, but it seems that this hose will last longer than a cheaper one.
