5.0 out of 5 stars Song by Song Review
1. Goodbye- This song is really really well done. It isn't a dance-pop tune (like 'Wannabe'), it's a meaningful song written for Geri and for ends of relationships in general. It's a beautiful ballad and should be a hit! 2. Christmas Wrapping- Complete opposite of 'Goodbye'. This is a very cool song, and is more of a 'Wannabe' type song. This is a cover of the old...

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I think it's one of their best songs! It's sad due to the fact that this song was released just after Ginger spice had left the group. And this song made them keep going as four piece group!

It's a beautiful ballad and should be a hit! 2. Christmas Wrapping- Complete opposite of 'Goodbye'. This is a very cool song, and is more of a 'Wannabe' type song. This is a cover of the old Waitresses hit, which I've heard, and let's just be glad that the Spice Girls are singing it instead of them... The beat is cool and so are the lyrics (they revised them) 3. Goodbye (Orchestral Version)- Now this song is even better than the original pop version. It has much more feeling and when the percussion comes in at the end- it's really up-lifting. The best song of the single. THIS SINGLE IS FOR ANYONE THAT LIKES GOOD MUSIC- SPICE GIRLS FAN OR NOT. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR GREAT SONGS, BUY THIS RECORD.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Spice Girls cover "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses, April 28, 2005
This review is from: Goodbye [Australian CD1] (Audio CD)
Having become hooked on the original version of "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses, that led to my being directed to this 1999 cover of the song by the Spice Girls. The pace of the song is sped up a bit, there are a few changes to the lyrics (mostly early in the song), and some techno elements are added to the musical mix. I prefer the original, but this is a decent enough cut and since it had been almost two decades since the song was first heard it is not surprising that an entire generation of listeners do not make the connection. However, this cover version is helping to slowly but surely wean me from listening to the original over and over and over again (now I can alternate between the two).

This CD-Single also has two versions of "Goodbye," the best track from the Spice Girl's third and apparently final album, the ironically entitled "Forever." Since this was the group's first single after Geri Halliwell left the group and the chorus was all about "Goodbye, my friend, it's not the end," the song is spared from any false sense of irony and the split was clearly more amicable than, oh, say John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The radio edit of "Goodbye" is a bit better than the orchestral mix, but that is going to be a matter of taste. The song only made it to #11 on The Billboard Hot 100 chart (but #1 in Canada), but I would blame that on the three year delay between albums rather than on

Be aware that you can get both "Christmas Wrapping" and the basic version of "Goodbye" on several different CD-singles. Apparently "Goodbye" was originally released as a Christmas single, a phenomenon in the U.K. that I have a much greater appreciation for after watching "Love Actually."

This review is from: Goodbye [Australian CD1] (Audio CD)
Hey, what's up?! Well, I've I'm not really a big fan of the Spice Girls but I like some of their songs, like "Wannabe", "Viva Forever", and "Goodbye". I really like the song "Goodbye" but I need the words !!! I can't find them anywhere! I'm like desparate! Does anyone know where I could find the words of the song? It would be even better if someone knows them, and if you do, you can E-mail me and send me the words of the song. I would be SOOOOOOOO grateful to you!!! THANX!

PEACE!

1.0 out of 5 stars PATHETIC! SOMEBODY LIED!, September 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Goodbye [Australian CD1] (Audio CD)
The Spice Girls are just musical wannabes. "Wannabe" is bad noise, but it is a very telling statement about this put together mockery. The Spice Girls stink! Somebody should find a way to let Nasty Spice, Rancid Spice, Rotten Spice, Stinky Spice and Stupid Spice know that music is not their strong point. Listen to REAL girl power talents like Mariah Carey, Melissa Etheridge, Madonna and Alanis Morissette. They're the good ones, not the Spice Girls.

Old spices belong down the drain. Pull the plug on these wannabes. They stink.
