BRUTAL TRUTH - Dead Smart

Biography

It is doubtful the most extreme end of the musical spectrum has ever possessed such a transfixing dichotomy as BRUTAL TRUTH. The band progressed with boundless enthusiasm through the primal fury of traditional grindcore and hardcore punk. They attacked suffocating city life on the edge of the 21st century and its media noise overload with the bare-knuckled forcefulness of passion, conviction and a… Read more in Amazon's Brutal Truth Store

3.0 out of 5 stars goodbye cruel world, February 19, 2002

brutal truth is one of my favorite death/grindcore metal bands. I loved extreme condtitions and need to control but this one doesn't do it as much for me because of the horrible production. it still contains brutal truths best songs live and about ten cover songs so its worth buying for anything brutal truth fan but its not a good introduction to the band. you get your moneys worth with the tracks though, theres over 2 hours of brutal grindcore here, but still the production brings this album down a lot, i say get extreme conditions demand extreme responses first.

5.0 out of 5 stars suicide album leaves with a bang, January 17, 2000

This is BT's final album, but at least they go out with a bang, actually noise carnage that resembles some of the best grindcore ever released. The first cd is a live recording from Australia, and while it does have it's tinny production moments, you'll soon forget them as you succumb to the sheer brutality (pun intended) to the overall massive attack that you suffer from the songs. "Walking Corpse": awesome. "Cornucopia" stunning. "Jemenez Cricket": shattering. The second disc is a culmination of other live recordings, covers and b-side one offs. Regardless, an essential purchase for the grind freak. Kevin, gurn, rich and danny shove their primitive foot through our weak skulls for the last time.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 discs of Brutal Truth? How could you go wrong?, December 30, 1999

This is, of course, Brutal Truth's last hurrah, and boy oh boy is it a good one. As I'm sure you know, the first disc is a complete live set from one of their final shows in Austrailia, and the second disc is some assorted rarities, covers, and other live stuff from various other shows. The end result? Beautiful. More than 2 hours of grindcore chaos at its finest. I love it. Although the overall production kinda sucks, it's still Brutal Truth, and it's still damn good.
