3.0 out of 5 stars Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody
Okay, I got another book to review today.
-----------------------
This one's called Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody and the title pretty much explains what the story is about. It's the end of the Hollywood Nobody series and you're saying goodbye to Scotty and her family and friends.
Charlie is in Scotland with her new boyfriend and Scotty and her dad...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful teen book, May 1, 2011
Goodbye Hollywood Nobody is the final book in the Hollywood Nobody series by Lisa Samson. This is an amusing series about Scotty Fitzgerald and her unique family situation and un-common living situation. Goodbye Hollywood Nobody is about Scott traveling with her dad in search of her mother. During the course of the summer Scotty grows up a lot more than she has already and is working of self-discovery of what God wants from her life.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I had not read the other books in the series but thought this book sounded pretty cute so I picked it out as a book to review. I was skeptical that I would not enjoy the book because I hadn't read the other books. Well, I was surprised that was not the case.

I easily connected with the powerful characters right from the start. Scotty is just an amazing teen and her personality was so refreshing! I just loved how she would have internal battles about what God would want her to do and what her instant reaction to do was, that made her feel like a more believable character. I enjoyed watching her grow spiritually and see her step out in faith even though it went against what she desired to do. That alone made me want to re-examine my life and think about the times God asked me to step out on the line and I refused. I have to say that that the term Jesusy just literally had me laugh out loud!

This story well very well-written and there was a lot of depth and soul searching that I just didn't expect in it. I really think that even though I read the last book first I really do now want to go back and read the previous books. I highly recommend this series to young teens, older teens and maybe even some adults like myself, you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jesusy Extraordinary!, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody: A Novel (Paperback)
Sigh! It's the perfect ending to an amazing story. In Goodbye Hollywood Nobody, by Lisa Samson, Scotty and her dad are on a mission: find Babette, Scotty's mom. But the journey to Maine only seems to give another dead end. Scotty pushes her sorrow to the back of her mind as she heads to the Red River Home for Children in Kentucky to volunteer, in search of ways to be more Jesusy.

Seth Haas calls and mentions that his ex, Karissa, is in trouble. Scotty, in a very Jesusy moment, invites Karissa to the Red River Home, hoping that the actress might find God herself. Scotty loves the children at the home, especially baby Silas. She feels a connection to her mother as she holds the baby. God is good.

Karissa shows up in a red convertible, toting enough luggage for a European cruise. The workers at the children's home quickly put her in her place, but it's not until Karissa carelessness causes a major accident that the actress wakes up. Can Scotty do the most Jesusy thing yet and forgive the Karissa for everything?

Ever since book one, Lisa Sampson has created a story that tops itself. Where this one wasn't as funny as the first, it's rightly so. Scotty is still as charming as ever, but she's discovering what's important in life. As she nears her eighteenth birthday, Scotty is proof that all a girl really needs in her life is a relationship with Jesus.

Standing ovation.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOODBYE HOLLYWOOD NOBODY, October 14, 2008
By
This review is from: Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody: A Novel (Paperback)
GOODBYE HOLLYWOOD NOBODY is the final installment in the HOLLYWOOD NOBODY saga by Lisa Samson. This quirky series, aimed towards teens and young adults is a wonderfully enjoyable series. Throughout the four books you follow Scotty Fitzgerald as she travels the states with her unique family situation and eccentric lifestyle. Not wanting to give away any spoilers, I enjoyed watching Scotty mature as she was faced with both wonderful and difficult situations. GHN deals with Scotty coming of age, and stepping out into the dating world, but was handled with grace and wholesomeness. I would just say that I¡¯m not one to read quirky or rompy style writing, but I thoroughly enjoyed the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is it really over!?!?!?, October 13, 2008
This review is from: Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody: A Novel (Paperback)
This book was bittersweet for me. I loved it as much if not more than the other books in this series, but I have that nagging feeling that this is the end of the line for these characters and its like saying good-bye to a bunch of friends. This is one YA series that you should read no matter what age you are - it is not inappropriate for the younger crowd (my daughter Sarah - 12) and yet it is truly enjoyable for the mid crowd (me - 33) and the older crowd (my mother-in-law - 63). They are a good investment :-) Just as this book came in and I breezed through it and then my mother-in-law did likewise, Sarah started the first book. She couldn't hardly put it down and went immediately into the second book "Finding Hollywood Nobody". I expect her to be diving into "Romancing Hollywood Nobody" anytime now and I know she's thrilled that I have this last one so she won't have to wait to find out how everything ends. Basically my review comes down to this - I'm not sure I've read another series that I can so highly recommend to any age group - I totally love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Teen and Young Adult Book!, October 13, 2008
This review is from: Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody: A Novel (Paperback)
You will enjoy reading this fun series of books ending with Goodbye Hollywood Nobody. Scotty is a young girl who has an "interesting" life and finds herself in situations that are not only unusual but she grows from them as well. I don't want to say too much and risk spoiling the story for you. But I will say that I would recommend this series for teens and young adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fitting finale to fantastic series!, October 10, 2008
This review is from: Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody: A Novel (Paperback)
Goodbye Hollywood Nobody by Lisa Samson is an excellent conclusion to a terrific young adult series. Scotty Dawn has been through a lot in the last year, and the reader can track her maturation through the four book series. She has discovered that her mother is really her grandmother, they are on the run from the mob, her father has returned to her life after being thought dead, she's given up her snarky blog about Hollywood, and she's met a couple of cute guys. It's a lot to process for a young women, but Scotty handles it with style. Samson writes in Scotty's voice with a breezy, very teenage-girlesque style. There are a lot of loose ends to tie up with the finale in any series, and I was surprised, but pleased, that Samson didn't take the easy way out. By the end, Scotty has really grown up into a lovely young woman, with a large extended family and a huge love for God. It's been a blessing getting to know her.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous end to the HN series, September 11, 2008
This review is from: Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody: A Novel (Paperback)
What a way to end the HN saga! So much has happened in the life of our Scotty Fitzgerald Dawn that it's hard to write a review without spoilers. GHN is the fourth and final installment of the HN series. This is a wonderful series that should be read by tweens, teens, and young adult girls alike. I actually doubt you could put an age limitation on the enjoyment found in these short novels. Scotty is just a girl in an interesting life trying to figure things out. She puts it well that she "seems to collect people". All around the US Scotty makes friends in different situations and she learns valuable life lessons from all of them.
GHN answers some long awaited questions for Scotty, family, and friends. It ends in a perfectly adorable fashion. In this story, at 17 you can definitely see how Scotty has aged and matured. Scotty has always been mature in some ways, but very innocent childlike in others. It is from being around Scotty that people benefit and learn things about themselves. She is a good example of a person to be. I highly recommend the Hollywood Nobody series to anyone and everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great ending to Scotty's saga!, July 1, 2011
Many have followed Scotty's life and journey through Lisa Samson's Hollywood Nobody Series. Scotty's saga comes to a close in "Goodbye, Hollywood Nobody." Scotty and her father are traveling in search of Scotty's mother and Scotty is searching for answers to her questions in regards to God and faith. Charley is off in Scotland with a new boyfriend and Karissa shows up forcing Scotty to deal with her feelings toward her and move closer to forgiveness.

This is a great teen series as Scotty deal with real issues and the books are written from her perspective. Scotty is an enjoyable character to read about, and journey with as the reader will connect with Scotty through her various experiences and will empathize with her. It has been enjoyable to read about Scotty and see how she has grown from the first book to the last book. I recommend this series for teen girls!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sad to see it end, June 15, 2011
By
sad to have this book series end but at least it ended on a good note. In this book you will find out if Scotty and her dad find her mom. Who is Scotty in love with and who loves her back. You find out if Scotty's grandma finally finds true love, will she find God too.
As in true form of the Hollywood Nobody we go on many adventures with Scotty. There are many ups and downs and we go through her many emotions. My favorite part of the book is when Scotty goes to stay at a orphanage for a few months. She learns so much about herself, how to love even the most unlovable. Scotty finds more of who God is and His plans for her as well.
The author left this book open to continue even though it's been years since the last book and it seems like this was to be the last one in the series. But I'm in a not so secret hope that she will write more.
Amazing books, great author. You can find her books at Navpress.
