Pub rock's back-to-basics aesthetic doomed a lot of these bands to obscurity, in many cases unfairly so. These tracks aren't necessarily all great, but they're all refreshingly fun.

A great compilation of music from a special time. English bands were Big Pinked and American roots-rocked in the period right before Johnny Rotten sneered through his safety pins. Post-prog everybody was goin to the country or going to the basics with superb results. Check it out---some of the best music you never heard.
