5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Much Amazing!!!
This book is concise and exactly what you want if you really want to study pharmacology. It is an "edited" version of the 45 pound, full-size book, but I haven't felt like I was missing out on material. I can carry it around with me to class and back home, which means that I actually use it. It includes all the important diagrams and tables that you need. The only...

I bought this thinking it would make a great reference book. The full is edition is bulky and heavy (at over 8 pounds versus 2 lbs for this version). However, this was an entirely different book altogether. It read more like a pharmaceutical company version. I found many inaccuracies and claims about drugs that were not supported and certainly not included in the full...

The only problem I have come across is needing to find a specific reading assignment based on page numbers (I can figure it out using the chapters though). But it is cheaper, which always matters!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Book, February 26, 2008
This review is from: Goodman and Gilman's Manual of Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Paperback)
Well there are a lot of things I like about this book, maybe I may not be able to tell you everything, it has all the necesary information you may need. Its size is bigger than a copybook, so you can take it anywhere in your backpack and use it whenever you need it. The information is very complete so you never have to check out other book again. I recommend this book to all of you students and professionals. Check it by yourselves.

This is agreat addition to anyones practice/pharm class. I have used it daily- good review of the phisology. I keep it in my backpack I have both this manual & the 11th edition of the large Text but I haven't opened that one since this smaller one arrived.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, October 18, 2008
This review is from: Goodman and Gilman's Manual of Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Paperback)
My friends and I call this book the Baby Goodman cause its a lot smaller than it's bigger counterpart! The other one weighs many pounds and has an extreme amount of detail which is very good too, but this version is nicer for studying and for quick consults, I use it a lot for my pharmacology class in med school, and I'm not dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Therapy, March 2, 2008

Excellent reference source for students and practitioners. Should be on every medical bookshelf. Most will not need the larger and more complex textbook in their day to day work.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent book, October 27, 2009

Absolutely enjoyed reading the book. Not cluttered like the big Goodman Gilmans with too much of detail. Much better than, most pharmacology books out there. Provides just the right amount of detail for medical students who want to have good knowledge of pharmacology, and before i forget it is easy to carry around as well.Good job done by the publishers all in all. Wish it was available on kindle as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent book, very concise, June 17, 2011

I am a clinical pharmacist, I first purchased the textbook which was VERY detailed! It is a phenomenal book but I just did not have the time to read it all, so I purchased the paperback version. I am very glad that I did! It is very concise and just as informative as the textbook. If you are strapped for time but want an excellent informative source that is short and to the point get the paperback. Hope this helps, best of luck!

I bought this thinking it would make a great reference book. The full is edition is bulky and heavy (at over 8 pounds versus 2 lbs for this version). However, this was an entirely different book altogether. It read more like a pharmaceutical company version. I found many inaccuracies and claims about drugs that were not supported and certainly not included in the full version.

For example, the section on managing dyslipidemia presents a very statin-centric view and dramatically downplays the adverse effects of statins. Most readers are probably not aware that when pharmaceutical companies run clinical trials on new medications, they first pre-screen potential candidates to eliminate those who do experience adverse reactions. In doing so, they can drastically reduce the incidence of side-effects.

If you're looking for an objective examination of pharmacology, stick with the full version.
