5.0 out of 5 stars Boo! Who knew?
This book is so very awesome and I am so NOT very awesome with written reviews. But, nonetheless, I will try because this little book needs to be out there and READ.

This book is so very awesome and I am so NOT very awesome with written reviews. But, nonetheless, I will try because this little book needs to be out there and READ.

First and foremost - I simply love Halloween and am always on the hunt for good Halloween books. This book did not disappoint. The illustrations are excellent and the rhyme is the same cadence as with Goodnight, Moon. Adults who love Halloween and kids who love Goodnight, Moon will all equally enjoy this book.

Every page is chockful of images to peruse and discover. FUN images that are still spooky, scary and frightful without being overly gruesome for little brains. I see this being a classic for our family for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book for Your Own Little Monsters!, September 6, 2008

Our family has enjoyed Micheal Rex's books for years but this one is the best! It is a wonderful, fun parody of the children's classic, "Goodnight Moon" (appropriate for all ages). My children loved the spin on the classic, a book they know by heart! Parents - add it to your collection! Teachers - what a great resource for teaching how to write a parody or just as a great Halloween story (but can also be read throughout the year!). It will hopefully become a classic just like the original. We hope Michael Rex finally gets the recognition he deserves as an author and illustrator!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Halloween Must-Have for the Goodnight Moon Lover!, October 20, 2008
This review is from: Goodnight Goon: A Petrifying Parody (Hardcover)
I discovered this book today and, being a HUGE fan of Goodnight Moon, I was so excited! This book is adorable and is so fun for Halloween. I am sure it would be cute even if you have not read Goodnight Moon, but if you are familiar with Goodnight Moon, it is hilarious! I am excited to read this book to my son!

Also, check out Michael Rex's new Runaway Mummy: A Petrifying Parody for a hilarious Halloween scream!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, October 28, 2008

Saw this on an end cap at Target and thought it was Goodnight Moon. Looked closer and cracked up at the cover and title. Pure genius to parody a timeless classic. The inside didn't disappoint. Great rhymes that served the original but were completely loony and fun. The drawings are great and I immediately bought it for my son. I hope Michael Rex sells a million of them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Crafted Book, October 30, 2008
This review is from: Goodnight Goon: A Petrifying Parody (Hardcover)
My daughter loves ghosts, bats, spiders, and anything related to Halloween, so we purchased this book recently. It has been a big hit. Not only is it well written, the illustrations are wonderful. The pictures are so detailed that my daughter is constantly discovering new things in them. She loved "Goodnight Moon," so she can relate to the text as well. This book is incredibly well done. It's fun for adults as well as kids.

My 5 year old loved this book! At first, she was confused and didn't find it as amusing as mom and dad do. Then, after reading it side by side with 'Goodnight Moon', she was finally getting it.

Wonderful for the Halloween holiday!

5.0 out of 5 stars Goodnight monsters everywhere, October 11, 2008
By
This review is from: Goodnight Goon: A Petrifying Parody (Hardcover)
This is a very entertaining parody of the classic children's book Goodnight Moon, and is best appreciated if, like my two four year olds, one is already familiar with the original. The text and illustrations follow the pattern of the original closely, especially in the first half. Some of the characters are monstrous versions of those in the original book, and others are new, but all of them are beautifully but grotesquely drawn monsters. My only slight disappointment was that the author did not copy what I think is the most disturbing page of the original book: the blank page "Goodnight nobody"!

My daughters both love the book "Goodnight Moon" and since we were looking for a new Halloween story, this seemed like a good choice. I end up reading this story to both girls at least twice a day and they don't get sick of it. The rhyming is easy and even my two year old is getting the hang of reading along with it. The illustrations are great! Wonderful new Halloween story!

After years of reading Goodnight Moon I stumbled upon this parody of the famous children's book. I am forced to admit....I bought this for myself and thought I'd share it with my 6 and 4 year old daughters. The rhymes and pictures are great. My 6 year old really enjoys it and I can't help but smile when I read it. A great share for that all important reading time!

I bought this book for my two year old who loves Goodnight Moon. I have read it at least three times a day since buying it. The illustrations are great and not scary at all.
