Editorial Reviews

Luke Perry returns to the lawless frontier as Circuit Judge John Goodnight, a man hell-bent on seeing justice served. Traveling through the Western Territories, John comes to the aid of a stagecoach under attack, rescuing the only surviving passenger, the beautiful Lucy Truffaut (Katharine Isabelle). Little does John know, she is actually a convicted con artist on the run from wealthy aristocrat Cyril Knox (Ricky Schroder). Can Lucy con John into helping her get away with her crimes, or will the fair judge find out her true identity and turn her in himself?
Bonus Features: Deleted Scenes, On Set Interviews with Luke Perry, Katharine Isabelle & Ricky Schroder.

Those clamoring for more frontier justice served up by traveling circuit judge John Goodnight will be pleased as Hallmark brings us the third chapter in the popular Luke Perry franchise. The "Goodnight For Justice" series is exactly what one might expect from the Hallmark Channel and has succeeded largely due to the laconic charm of Perry. Soft spoken and laid back, our reluctant hero has an unwavering sense of idealism and plenty of moxie in a confrontation. It's easy to see why audiences appreciate this beacon of goodness and why Perry keeps returning to the role. That said, "Queen of Hearts" sticks pretty true to its non-threatening TV formula with gentle action, chaste romance, and lessons on tolerance and responsibility. But I suspect the core audience for which this film was intended wouldn't have it any other way. Heck, this isn't HBO's "Deadwood!" As such, the movie is mildly engaging. However, while I enjoyed it enough on its own terms, I don't know that I'd be rushing out to make a DVD purchase. My recommendation: check it out for free on the Hallmark Channel before deciding you want to own it.

In "Queen of Hearts," Goodnight meets his greatest challenge yet. Katherine Isabelle plays an alluring con artist who ensnares Perry (or does she?) with her feminine wiles. We know she's of dubious character from the get-go, but Perry is left to discover the fact as the movie progresses. Escaping the law and running from a dangerous stranger from her past, Isabelle misleads Perry as to her identity. Can she use our erstwhile hero to escape her crimes? As the two banter, there is clearly love in the air. But what will Perry do once he uncovers the whole truth? Ricky Schroder is a welcome presence as the man chasing down the pair.

"Sometimes I wish I wasn't a judge." The next chapter in the saga of wild west judge John Goodnight (Perry). While out riding John sees a stagecoach under attack and kills the attackers. The survivor is a woman who John strikes up a quick friendship with. Little by little he finds out more about her, and she may not be who he thought. I have seen all three movies in this series. The first one was actually not that bad, but the others went downhill fast. I can't really complain to much because they are hallmark channel TV movies so there is a certain expectation with that. The movie is sometimes entertaining and sometimes very boring. If it was more consistent it would have been better but just when you get into it it slows way down and makes you lose interest. If you have seen the others then you might as well watch this one too, otherwise its really a movie for hardcore western fans only. Overall, the third movie in the series and the third best one. I give it a C.

I've really enjoyed this movie. I haven't had it very long however I have watched it many times. Good western with some comedy. I also have The Pledge, and have ordered Goodnight For Justice. All of these are by Luke Perry.

If you are a Luke Perry fan then this is the show for you. It is like the old westerns used to be and well worth watching over and over. Luke Perry plays the part of John William Goodnight extremely well. This is a wonderful family movie and enjoyable for the whole family.

Can't wait till Mr.Perry makes another"GOODNIGHT.."on the dvd features he talks of making another one.The young lady in this movie,Ms.Katharine Isabelle...was great. And it was very hard to keep your eyes off of her.I kept telling myself she reminds me of a child actor.I couldn't place the movie..right..so I checked out my movie collection & found her.It was back in 1991...a t.v.movie which starred the great CHARLES BRONSON..in.."YES VIRGINIA,THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS"...Ms.Isabelle was around ten years of age playing Richard "THE WALTONS"Thomas's daughter. She has growth up to be a beauitful young lady.Hope Mr.Perry brings her back again. She played up to Goodnight pretty good.Collect it ...only if you LOVE THE WESTERN...it's truly a good one...it's the 3th one so far.Thankyou-Jack
