No matter how old you are, Madlibs are hilarious. My husband & I love to play these Madlibs to relax after a long hard day...we both remember them from our Childhood. The best thing is that you can work on a madlib book and then put it away for a few months and do them all again with different equally hilarious results.
Sometimes they are more funny with more creative, perhaps more taboo words...

I purchased several of these for my son as a way to get him into thinking more instead of using the internet. It's a great humor learning tool and they are really fun! ..

The usefulness of these stories depends a lot on the imagination of those participating in the game. Kids (and adults!) can practice the Parts of Speech and expand their vocabularies while laughing out loud. However, the end results don't seem quite as funny as what I remember from playing them as a kid.

I really adore mad libs as a simple activity that is fun for kids but was pretty disappointed by this version. Not sure if it was just one of the copies we received or if theses errors are in all of the goofy mad libs but we encountered alot of mistakes in this book. The top page in the book is a fill in the blank section where you choose your words without knowing the context they will be used in. The user is prompted to choose a noun, adjective or verb etc. We found many instances where the words they asked you to select were incorrect or not even used in the text . For examples, the 3rd word the upper page asks you to select is a noun but when you place your words in the context text on the bottoms page, the 3rd word was supposed to be an adjective. The errors were frequent throughout the book causing us to scratch the whole upper page and instead fill out the words in the context text. It is pretty easy to work around but I am disappointed that mad libs didn't proof read these books before going to print.

I was trying to find an innovative way to help my 3rd grader "enjoy" parts of speech through games, and I remembered that Mad Libs was one of my favorite things to do as a kid - so I bought a few. The Junior ones are too easy for anyone trying to learn the proper names for parts of speech (they use symbols) so get the ones that are not marked Kid or Junior. These are perfect, though. Your child (or with friends, etc.) fill out the list at the top of the page with verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, etc and then populate the spaces in the story and read aloud. It's always a hoot. We will be getting more - just be sure to peek at a few pages in the Look Inside - some Mad Libs are marked "adult" for more adult stories and content. This one is fine for elementary schoolers.

It's 3.99, it introduces a lot of fun grammar to children in comprehensible ways. It is great because it is not captivating enough to do may at once - but interesting enough to revisit from tiem to time. Seriously, this repeated exposure is what makes memories consolidate - a very easy way to spend 3.99 for your child to build and promote their litaracy development.

Easy - of you have a child interested in such books, snap them up. If you are not sure, the risk if the investment is well worth it.

My daughter loves these !!!!!

Mad libs are awesome. I can't seem to find them anywhere though. I am so glad I could find them on amazon, and they are the real deal! No knock off, real real mad libs :) I've ordered mad libs online and received pieces of copy paper with messed up stories with underlined spaces randomly in them.. not the same, and they sucked. These are the real books, and they are so much fun! Especially when you homeschool a third grader! Helpful with learning the parts of speech, and are a nice way to learn while taking a lesson break!!!!

I gave this Goofy Mad Libs three stars because each scenario is on two different pieces of paper. It is convenient to copy "adjectives, adverbs, nouns and verbs" right into the story. Just not what I hoped to use the Mad Libs for. I wanted to tear them out so we could share but if you tear them out you have to tear out two separate pieces of paper and even then you have one whole story and half of another story.
