It takes a brave soul to write a book which is going to be somewhat obsolete from the moment it is finished.
This book is an excellent, well-structured, walk through for setting up google apps. It also does good job of explaining some of the different versions of google apps. At Sage Internet Solutions, we are always trying to stay abreast of the current web-based technologies and cloud computing is a big one on our radar right now.

BUT.....

This book has no index. Sort of ironic that a book about Google, the search engine and indexing giant, has no index. If you want to look something up, you get get a pretty good approximation from the Table of Content in the front, but the book really needs a proper index.

This is a VERY well laid-out book. I could easily go through the pages, set up my Google calendar, email, etc., as I went, and be able to explain it to others when I was done. I love a book which not only tells me the "how", but also the "why". All is well-organized and easy to follow.

This is a good book if you're looking to get your business started on Google Apps but don't possess any real technical knowledge. It patiently walks you through all the steps needed to successfully switch from MS Office to Google's App system, without spending too much time or money. The style is simple, clear and not overly wordy; there's a nice balance of images and screenshots vs. text. It's ideal for the "average" user, or small business owner. If you're looking at Google Apps give this book a read first.

Certainly is worth the money. Very illustrative for everyone who want to start using such great tools. It is specially for those like me who have been using Gmail but would like to expand to the use of the other great Apps, and is also very useful for complete starters. I recommend it blindfolded.

Somewhere within this book is the information you might need, but you will have trouble finding it unless you have the time to re-read almost the entire book every time you want to know something. The information is not where you would think you would find it, and to compound your problems, THERE IS NO INDEX. I was working in Gmail, and wanted to do an operation, but that knowledge was found in the Contacts section. It was there; however, it was time consuming to find it.
The book might have hope as a text book, but not as a reference.

This is a great starting place to learn about Google Apps. I knew nothing about Google Applications before I decided to buy and read this book and now I have a great understanding. The book is very well written, detailed and pretty much covers everything you need to know. For example the book explained to me how to set-up a calendar. I previously used Outlook. So for my situation I'm very much so pleased. Highly Recommended!

I recently chose GOOGLE APPS EXPRESS as one of the textbooks for the CLOUD COMPUTING APPS class I teach at the community college level. The book is brief, clearly written with excellent screen shots, and very inexpensive (these are welcome features to college students, especially the low price).

We switched from the Nancy Conner Google Apps book (an excellent book, but not updated to the new Google Apps look).

When I discovered, however, there was no index in the EXPRESS book, and that chapter numbers and titles are not displayed in either the header or footer of each page, I wrote to the author, James Beswick, at the email address provided in the text. Imagine my surprise when he wrote back to me within hours telling me the next edition will correct these issues! I am very surprised and pleased, and will definitely watch for other books written by Mr. Beswick.
