This is an abridged version of a review that was initially published at [...]
Stay, who has previously co-authored a book for Facebook users, has used the "Dummies" format to create a book that is primarily intended for users of existing social media services (such as Facebook), and is designed to help such users learn the ins and outs of Google+.

However, the book also provides a refresher for experienced Google+ users, allowing them to catch up on things they missed when they first joined the service. For example, after reading the book, I made some adjustments to my Google+ profile, used the Share button for the first time, and "liberated" all of my Google+ data.

Google+ is a constantly changing service, and any book on such a service is going to be outdated soon after publication. (For example, just after the book was published, Google finally allowed business pages.) Stay, and Wiley, account for such changes by providing a link to get updates to topics addressed in the book. The link, of course, goes to a Google+ page.

Short, easy to read... and informative all at the same time.

This guide is a super-fast read, and has some advanced techniques wrapped in an easy to understand guide about Google +.

No guess work...anyone could learn and start using Google's new tool by reading it.

Readable from beginning to the end, or for topical interest, this book is a portable how-to encyclopedia on Google+ for novice and experts alike.

Being a technology lover, and an early adopter of Google+ I have being (and still am) one of the fervent evangelist of this social network. What I did not expect, however, what that there is a book out there that teaches the product, nor that there is so much more to it than what I knew.

I was blown away by the depth and breadth of the subject developed by Jesse Stay. "Google+ for Dummies" is not just a manual for rookies, but it also is a reference material for the technology savvy, the entrepreneur that wants to stay close to their clientele, the student that desires to stay in touch with peers and close to subjects, the cosmopolitan that simply wants to meet new people and keep their circles of friends growing or just share in the fun.

From creating your account through starting your circles all the way to how to use Google+ on your mobile phone to downloading your data, Jesse has been meticulous in addressing every particular need of potential users. The subtle comparison of features he made of the application with Facebook (yes, FB!) further strengthen the quality of a book originally designed for Google's social G+. Jesse Stay has covered most privacy concerns and shortcuts you would probably need. If you are interested in applications that would extend your productivity or fun on G+, "Google+ for dummies" is the book you need.

I am really happy with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks for writing this book December 19, 2011
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I must admit. I am NOT a fan of the Dummies series. I've read several over the years and I think they could find better experts to write some of their titles. But I was blown away by the knowledge in this little title. I got a Google+ invite about six months ago and I really thought it was a generic Facebook. Circles even seemed stupid to me. So I decided to see what I could learn about this new social networking platform. My gosh, I cannot believe all the things you can do with Google+/ After reading this title, I realized the benefits of Google+ such as hanging with your friends via video, a major advantage over Facebook in my opinion. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. This book teaches you about 'sparks' for one as well as showing you how to do some gaming with Google. There is so much you can do with Google now, it is unreal. I've even started using Google Docs because of Google+. If you are new to Google+, get this book! It covers the bare bones basics, plus more, even showing you some cool third-party add-ons to make your Google+ experience even better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just Okay December 15, 2011
Format:Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I remember my introduction to Facebook. It was fast and easy to sign up and simple to navigate and find people. Google+ on the other hand is not as intuitive, which is why this book isn't a bad idea, but the book itself is not as user friendly as I'd like. It's not the author's fault that we have to get used to a list of new terms, but I didn't find the explanations particularly helpful and moreover, I was still confused when trying to grasp Google+'s basic architecture. Maybe I'm just dumber than dumb, but this book did not make Google+ as simple as it should have. Not recommended.
