It's Android 4.2 out of the box but updates to 4.3 as soon as it's available in your area. Mine updated earlier this week.

It could be upgraded to Android 4.2. That is what I did. Mine has been upgraded to ver 4.2 recently and without any trouble.

Mine had Android 4.1, which was auto-updated by Google to the most recent version.

Never had Andorid version 3 (Honeycomb) of any kind. It never had any Android version 4.0.x (Ice Cream Sandwich) either. It has had Android versions 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), 4.3 (Jelly Bean), 4.4 (Kit Kat), and 4.4.2 (Kit Kat). If you buy one with an Android version prior to 4.4.2, (i.e., 4.2.2, 4.3 or 4.4) it will update to 4.4.2 over the internet.

Android 3.4 is the latest version. It's a free upgrade to 4.2. Not much of a difference. It,s still a buggy program. Get a laptop instead. Sorry that I bought the nexus 10.
