Book Description

February 1, 2008

When people search for God—as if they entered His name in Google—they sometimes can’t decipher the religious language or get past the inaccurate representations they find. With honesty, clarity, and unfailing hope, this fresh new look at the heart of the Christian message bypasses inaccurate stereotypes and presents the good news in a way that even spiritual cynics and fringe observers will appreciate:

  • God is more wonderful than we have imagined, and He wants to share His life with us.
  • Jesus is the most engaging Person who has walked the planet.
  • Faith and science need not be mutually exclusive.
  • Religion is everywhere, but only authentic spirituality sets people free.
  • The Bible can be difficult to understand, but it is completely relevant to our lives today.

Skeptics and seekers alike will enjoy this enlightening exploration of God as revealed in Jesus Christ.

John Cox presents his life experiences in knowing God and his struggles with faith as a pastor. Reading the book feels like lying down in the grass and having a casual conversation with a friend - the same scenario John sets up in the opening of the book. Insightful and warm in tone, the book is great for anyone wanting to see how God has worked in the life of a man through many ups and downs and never let him go. It illustrates that that knowing Jesus is exciting and beautiful - not dull or boring as too many Christians have wrongly come to understand.

This is a challenging, non-threatening exploration of one man's search for God. Brutally honest, interspersed with some touching and moving personal anecdotes, laced with humour and some wise teaching from a varied spiritual journey, this book will not only be an encouragement for those walking the road with and serving God, but will also inspire those who claim to be agnostics, atheists etc. to revisit their thinking and to honestly ask themselves if they have an open mind to genuinely google for information about God. Totally non-threatening, John has an easy to read, relaxed style that one warms to quickly. He deals with most of the tough questions we all ask about God and does so with sincerity, not always claiming to even have the answers. John provides an opportunity for readers to take up issues with him after reading the book. Highly recommended.
