5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for toddlers and new readers alike!
I was fortunate to happen upon this book--my 21 month old son loves it and asks for it by name every night. It's has the kind of story that keeps kids engaged, and has a fun ending that even parents will enjoy. The rhyming text makes it great fun for kids to complete sentences as we go. Plus, there is the added feature of there being a small duck bystander on nearly...

3.0 out of 5 stars Just OK
Bought this for my 22 month old. She likes it ok. I am not wild about the story, and the book just abruptly ends. It's also not too durable, not like a board book. There are better books out there I think that can teach phonics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun for All Ages, April 27, 2003
By A Customer
My daughters are 6 years old and, we just discovered these books. They absolutely love them and, so do I. These are fun and original - they make reading fun for everyone. Thanks to the authors and illustrators. The pictures are adorable, too. It's hard to find books with great stories and pictures but, these have it. Thanks again. We hope to get the entire series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Goose on the Loose, July 17, 2008
These books are easy to read and great for age 3 and up. I would even buy it for younger children age 1 and up. They love hearing the sounds and the story. It's cute, beautifully illustrated, colorful and fun. A great book to help children learn to read. This is a flap book and a board book which makes it sturdy and durable. Also, there is a hidden duck on each page for them to search for. They get a thrill when they see it. There are lots of animals to name and talk about. A great phonics books, reading book, easy to read book and I recommend it highly. Very useful.

My 15 month son loves this book. Of course it may have something to do with the main character being a goose. He loves geese. He also greatly enjoys the farm animals in the story. The flaps on the pages are easy to open and are very durable. At this time is unable to tear of the flaps unlike other flap books we own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great begining reader book, February 2, 2009
This review is from: Goose on the Loose (Phonics Board Books) (Board book)
This bok is great for a beginging reader. My daughter thought the storey was funny and the book challenged her just enough without making it to hard for her to get. It was the right amount of difficulty.

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG such fun !!, October 9, 2011
Got it for my preschooler and love it myself ! Lovely illustrations. The goose is on the loose and all the animals better look out. Great book for introducing the 'oo' sound for the phonics crowd. My son and I make a lound 'honk honk' sound everytime it appears in the book, and giggle along on the antics of this silly goose who is on the loose. Fun !

I suppose it is a "baby" book, but I actually wish it were longer. It's got cute pictures and simple words and then it's over too soon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Name-calling, January 12, 2012

This review is from: Goose on the Loose (Phonics Board Books) (Board book)
I was disappointed in this story. A goose is riding around on a scooter knocking people and things over. The humor relies on the goose knocking things down, which is not what I want to teach my kids. At the end, the animals say that they need to stop this "fool" (meaning the goose). I do not want my kids to think it is okay and funny to call people fools or any other kind of not-nice name. The behavior might be foolish but it is not nice to call someone a fool. My kids are young enough that these lessons are still a big deal and they aren't old enough to filter that kind of thing out. I realize that I am probably more uptight than many people about this type of thing, but if I had known this about this story, I would not have bought it. So, this review is for the other fuddy-duddies like me. :)
