FANTASTIC!,
This review is from: The Day the Goose Got Loose (A Puffin Pied Piper) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a great rhythmical story that supports early readers because of it predictablitly of the story. The antics are fun and exciting. Also, the illustrations are absolutly FABULOUS and is what kept me interested as a child and still today as a new teacher.

This book is one of my all time favorites. I started reading to my children when they were babies - it has great rythm. It is delightful for adults, and my children have always been riveted. My one year old twins stop whatever they are doing to listen to the story whenever I start reading it. (I even "read" it to them in the car or bath because it is an easy little poem to memorize!)

Reading made easy...and FUN!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Day the Goose Got Loose (Hardcover)
Written in rhyme, this book makes it easy for young readers to experience the thrill of reading all by themselves. Of course, the goose's antics only add to the excitement. This is a great book to motivate your preschooler to want to learn to read.

Still the best,
This review is from: The Day the Goose Got Loose (A Puffin Pied Piper) (Mass Market Paperback)
My kid is now 14. I read this to her before 1st grade. It still keeps its value. Just awesome. She has said that the illustration of the dream has helped her deal with bad dreams. I found the book interesting: it took at least two reads to connect the fore-piece to the rest of the story and understand the whole plot. Every page counts, sometimes twice. It is wonderful, exciting, good, and happy. And has depth that an adult can appriciate.

My daughter borrowed this book from her preschool library. Its an adorable little story that follows the adventures of a goose in pursuit of her freedom. My daughter likes thestory so much when it came time to return it to the library, she hid the book. Only after I ordered a replacement copy for the school library did she find the original copy and declared that we could keep the extra copy because the school didn't need two copies of the book.A cute, worthwhile story sureto enchant the child-like dreamer in anyone.

We Love Animals Causing Mischief!,

This review is from: The Day the Goose Got Loose (A Puffin Pied Piper) (Mass Market Paperback)
"The Day the Goose Got Loose" is a funny, engaging animal adventure. Each group of farm animals has a different reaction to "Goose" being out of her pen. She causes commotion wherever she goes. Family members are affected, too, with changes in all of their routines. Beautiful illustrations give wonderful detail and add to the reader's involvement in the adventure. Facial expressions on the people and animals gives many avenues for discussion. The repetitive, rhyming text encourages children to participate in the reading process and to anticipate the "next lines". A beautiful, fanciful dream makes up the end of the story. All in all, a delightful childhood adventure where mischief occurs and no one really gets in trouble.

Kellogg does an amazing job of illustrating this book. Each page progresses you to a different perspective, and tells a story in itself. The lyrical rhymes make it a quick, delightful read.

My daughter loved this book. She is ten now and on to chapter books but this book was so important to her when she was just beginning to read. We read it over and over and over. For a long time it was all she wanted to read. We also have a tape that sets the book to music. The rhyme of this story goes great to music. For a long time we listened/read this over and over in the car. The illustrations are so wonderful, this goose is so naughty, and the little girl is in every picture chasing this adventurous goose. It turns out the goose wants to fly high with the wild geese in the sky. At the end there is this beautiful dream sequence of the little girl dreaming of all the gooses adventures. Just a beautiful book. Thank You Steven Kellogg for your beautiful illustrations and thank you Reeve Lindbergh for the great story. I will always remember this book and how much my daughter loved it.
