5.0 out of 5 stars Get excited and start your Holiday crafts and recipes, August 25, 2000
I saw the decorated jars on the front cover and had to purchase Gooseberry Patch 2. After reading cover to cover I couldn't wait to start making Holiday crafts in July! I made the Chilli Chaser Bags and the decorated jars for a pantry fundraiser, and they turned out just like the photos in the book. The directions for crafts and recipes are easy to follow, especially with the beautiful photos of the finished products. There are several reproducibles to help make your crafts look professional, and with the authors permission to do so! The recipes are enticing and really get you in the mood for Holiday crafting and cooking. I have five friends who have purchased Gooseberry Patch 2 after seeing my copy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative, July 17, 2000
By
Each page of Gooseberry Patch Christmas Book 2 is filled with creative country/down home ideas. The ideas are simple with beautiful pictures and easy to follow directions made from easy to find supplies. There are wonderful recipes for gifts or Christmas dinners. The hardest thing about this book was "which craft or recipe do I do first?". Don't miss this one!

What a fantastic book! Full of great ideas and gifts for the holiday season. Step by step instructions to make wreaths and decorations, counted cross-stich designs, outstanding recipes for any occasion, and much more. An absolute must have! You won't be disappointed.

Not one "original" idea that I havent seen in every magazine or craft book for years. Most of the items were scrapbooking related, which was little things like tags and noting worth duplicating.

I love Gooseberry Patch, especially their Christmas books (I own them all), but this one has no originality, no spark, nothing that is worth even trying to do for a project. Usually there is at least ONE project that has me excited and running to the craft store, but this one was just boring and dull.

Save your money and just check it out at the library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideas Galore, June 27, 2005
By
This review is from: Gooseberry Patch Christmas (Paperback)
I just ordered this book after finding it in my local library. As with all Gooseberry Patch books I have found many ideas for crafts and recipes. I plan on adapting the wreath on the cover for part of my holiday decor and the marshmallows dipped in chocolate and stuck on a peppermint stick will be made and shared with co-workers and friends. You really cannot go wrong with these charming books and I enjoy looking through them again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous decorating, recipes, July 18, 2004
By
I love this series of books. They have the best recipes and this second edition is no different. So far, my favorite is the third one but I've bought all of them and continue to do so every year. Yes, they're really THAT good! You just can't go wrong with the decorating ideas, gift ideas, and best of all the RECIPES! I use all the recipes throughout the year and my husband calls me a gourmet cook. I also buy these for friends for gifts but my husband doesn't want me to - he wants everyone to think that I am a gourmet!

This review is from: Gooseberry Patch Christmas (Paperback)
I bought several of these books years ago, after receiving my first copy from my (then) Mother-in-law. I immediately fell in love with these books, as I am one of those die-hard aspiring Martha Stewart/Rachael Ray/(Insert-other-perfect-homemaker) type. Each volume has ideas on how to start or keep different Christmas traditions, and has a wealth of home made gifts--that you would actually be PROUD to give! I am the type where I like to say "Here you go, I made this" and have people be excited to receive the gift, as well as jealous they didn't think of something this clever to give themselves. To be honest, all of the volumes tend to blend together for me, and I have them all marked-up with notes on things I want to try, or how I like the projects/recipes I DID try. A quick note about the recipes, they are all pretty simple and BAD for you, but amazingly tasty. A couple of the recipes I make throughout the year when I am craving some comfort food. I suggest buying this book at least three months before Christmas if you are using it to help plan, so that you have proper time to decide what gifts you would like to make, or recipes you would want to use, get the supplies, and actually have the time to make gifts. I highly recommend this whole series!
