Expensive but great quality for waterproof shell, July 30, 2011
This review is from: Gore Bike Wear Men's Xenon AS Jacket (Sports)
As a high quality, very light, waterproof shell, the Xenon is great. For me the form fit extremely well (snug, but superb) and the lower tail fit perfectly as well for coverage when 'in the drops' - however I have gone instead with Gore Countdown AS which I can use as a vest and keep the sleeves in the back pocket.
For me, the L size Xenon weighed in at 197g, which for a waterproof shell to pack every day is a pretty good weight. The zipper as a bit lower quality than on some other Gore jackets, but this clearly was to keep the weight and size down.
I would recommend as a pure shell, but I am likely going to return the Xenon. For a lot less than the price of just one Xenon I have ordered up two Countdowns (red and yellow). They give more visibility on the road, and I save money even with two with Amazon pricing for the Countdowns. If this were a lot less expensive, I might keep it as a pure shell, but for the money it isn't good enough vs. the Countdowns.
I was also hoping that the white might be a more visible color for road safety, but it's not really. I wish this came in other colors and was not so insanely high priced.
