Good Stuff,
This review is from: Goremageddon (Audio CD)
I enjoy this album, It's heavy with damn good violence. Don't know why so many people are calling this "average". What is so average about it? And, a reviewer here called them "nu-gore" LOL!!! Give me a break, is that a stupid new genre being created now? What is next? lol. It is amazing at how far some people will go to categorize a band that they don't like. If you don't like them, then just say you don't like them. Don't put them in some false fictional genre. PATHETIC I tell you. Aborted's "Goremageddon" is a good album, if you like death-metal, get this. Oh, and there is another reviewer here saying that if anyone gives this band 5 stars, then they haven't been into death metal that long. I have not been into death-metal that long, this is true, BUT at the same time, I have heard many death metal bands when I wasn't open to death-metal and I can say that none of them sound as good as Goremageddon. And I PROUDLY give this album 5 stars, no regrets.

Brutalllllllllllllllllll,

Amazing Death Grindgore Metal. Very melodic and brutallll. The first song i heard was The Saw and the Carnage done and became my favorite Grindgore band. If there heavy ass riffs dont whet your appetite then there lyrics will and the vocals provided by Sven are amazing, from the low groans to the screams for feeding. Lyric wise it is what you'd expect from a band called aborted, gorrrrre. They even throw in some audio clips of awesome horror movies which include Dead Alive, Evil dead and Day of the dead. It is everything you could want from a Grindgore metal band from Belgium, I really dont think it could get much better. Highly recommended, Haematobic and if you can find it "The Purity of Perversion"

Badarse Goregrind stuff.,

This is awesome. As far as gore goes, one of my favorite bands is Carcass. This right here is, to me, a faster, heavier Carcass. They even covered Carnal Forge on my version of the CD \m/
It reminds me of a faster, updated Necrotocism..even has the cool medical soundbites. I love it.

Better than expected,
This review is from: Goremageddon (Audio CD)
This is the best example of not judging a book by its cover. While the packaging of this album reminds me of a postmodern Mortician album cover, the actual music reached beyond any expectations I had. As previous reviewers have said, technical death metal & goregrind fans are in for a real treat. The musicianship is incredibly tight while remaining both brutal and melodic. Also the sound quality is crystal clear yet not over-produced. The only thing that needs a little work are the vocals which can get a bit annoying at times, but aren't to the point where they take anything away from the music.
Overall a great album and highly recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Origin and Necrophagist. Also make sure to check out the newest release, The Haematobic EP which is even better than this!

A gore masterpiece...,

The first album i heard from aborted was their ep title " haematobic" which i was blown away by their ability to play brutal and yet maintain a very melodic sound as well... Along with having sick lirycs that would make the weak of heart sick. It was about few months after, i knew i had to find another album by aborted and i sure did...Here comes "goremageddon" and its even better then their ep all together. Crystal clear production, sicker lirycs, faster music, original, one of a kind vocals and most of all? The best gore has to offer. A must've for any gore fan, out-there. My recommendations!!

Perfect!,

The first time I listened to this cd, I knew I was in for one hell of a ride when I heard the opening to the first song: "The doctor....is in." In case you've been living under a rock for the past 2 decades, that is a quote from my favorite gore-fest movie of all time: Hellraiser II.But, this review is not about Hellraiser II. This review is about Aborted. This is some of the most technical death/gore/grind metal I've ever heard. The songs have a perfect structure, the vocals are great. The recording is crystal clear. The guitars roar. This is Death Metal, the way it was meant to be: sick, fast, and technical. Keep the scene alive! Support Aborted! 5/5

While I don't agree with the lyrical content, I can forgive that for how unbelievably brutal and heavy this band is. It is absolutely extreme. From beginning to end this band never misses a beat, never lets up, and stops for no one. Aborted is one of the most extreme bands on the planet, and deathmetal fans, especially Cryptopsy fans, should check these guys out.

Gore-grind's best new band,

Brutal. That is simply the best word to describe the third full-length album by Belgium's Aborted, 2003's "Goremageddon." There's also no label that is more fitting for this album than Listenable Records, as it is an unholy blend of gore metal, grindcore, death-grind, technical death metal, and even a tiny bit of melodeath that is comparable to the likes of Carcass (both newer and latter day), Exhumed, Brutal Truth, Cryptopsy (circa 1998's "Whisper Supremacy"), and Cannibal Corpse. The result is an uncompromisingly calamitous, mind numbing cacophony of raw, abrasive production, great, ferocious riffs, insanely fast, skull-cracking blast beats, deep, adherent, sludgy grooves, ripping guitar solos, and torturous, guttural vocals that usually verge on the classic gore-grind pig-squeal style. And, of course, with a name like Aborted, you can expect the lyrics to be every bit as brutal as the music (think along the lines of subject matter like eating mutilated bodies, and doctors mutilating and twisting his patients' bodies, and you'll get the gist.)
The songs on "Goremageddon" do become a bit same-y sounding, but they definitely wreak more-than-enough carnage and devastation to take up that slack. After beginning with a creepy horror-movie sample (someone declares "the doctor is in"), opener "Meticulous Invagination" sets the album's tone immediately by tearing the listener's head off with a crushing deluge of monstrous, grinding riffs, pummeling drums, grumbling bass notes, skin-crawling shrieks, and a good, melodic solo. "Parasitic Flesh Resection" keeps the ball rolling with ridiculous, jackhammering blast beats throughout. The listener doesn't get a moment of relief until track three, "The Saw & The Carnage Done," which begins with a moderately paced tempo, but it gains steam and builds up to its usual blinding, blasting fury in almost no time at all. A really cool, dive-bombing solo is also included here. Other standouts include "Charted Carnal Effigy," which boasts a thunderous breakdown, winding solo, and tastefully semi-melodic guitar leads; the buzzsaw riffing behind "Clinical Colostomy"; the crunching groove and mini bass solo of "Medical Deviance"; the two shredding solos that crop up in "Nemesis"; and the set closer, "Carnal Forge," a competently covered Carcass classic. It almost goes without saying that "Goremageddon" isn't for everybody (just look at the title!) The busy arrangements and numerous moments of teeth-shaking brutality present here will make this album a bit overwhelming for genre newcomers; everybody else, however, will find this to be quite a killer, enjoyable, and very technically-impressive slab of extreme metal which cements Aborted's status as the best gore-grind/metal band since Dying Fetus.

so i was just browsing for a new cd of extreme proportions, when lo and behold i came upon this masterpiece of an audible massacre. aborted gives new light to an ever-dulling genre of music, where, unfortunately, many bands have watered down to a point of total loss of intensity, declining that raw feeling of just going out and destroying when you hear the disc. thanks be praised for aborted, and if you don't have this cd, my god, i have to ask why? why? WHY??!! oh...and ignore the reviews that display this work of art as boring, obviously the grind isn't for everyone but...i guess some of us just like the sound of skulls being crushed (figuratuvely speaking of course).
