From the Author

"Gorgeous for God is a 3-word constant reminder of my ultimate purpose in the world." -Lisa Natoli

About the Author

Lisa Natoli is one of God's miracle workers, by her own choice and decision. She is a writer, a muse, a minister, and she throws awesome dinner parties. She teaches A Course in Miracles: a systematic way of training your mind to a different perception of everyone and everything in the world.

More About the Author

My life was transformed by the grace of God, A Course in Miracles and with the help of Jesus Christ. I was alcoholic, depressed and a food addict. Every day i lived in fear and I thought this was normal. I began to make it a daily practice to shift into Christ consciousness, to set aside time every day to sit quietly with God, to pray and meditate and live in gratitude. Almost immediately I lost my desire for cigarettes and alcohol (on the same day, March 29, 2001). Addiction, sickness and depression disappeared. I now live in a state of joy, dedicated to God's Plan. I have found that if you have a willingness to forgive and to see things differently, you can change your life.
Gorgeous for God is the story of my own spiritual awakening, based on A Course in Miracles. It is very ordinary story. Things happened slowly for me--there were no bells or whistles. No going into the light. I didn't have a near-death experience. Instead, one by one, things that were no longer serving me dissolved and fell away--alcoholism, cigarette-smoking, fear, conflict, doubt. I found that as time went on, the ego-identity that I had built up over the years started to crumble, slowly, very slowly (at times painfully-slow!) and I found myself having almost no interest in the things I used be interested in. For me, enlightenment was when I stopped seeking for ways to improve myself. It was when I recognized that my old way of being was not working. I realized the necessity to see myself differently, as loved, loving and lovable, and not try to come up with a new improved identity.

I would have given this 2 1/2 stars. I was looking for a book to inspire me, and the inspirations were few and far between. Of course, different things appeal to different people, or perhaps the blog format doesn't translate well to a full-length book, but although the writer is obviously sincere and her observations heartfelt, [SPOILER ALERT] I found it mostly a series of [repetitive] platitudes, too simplistic, too many references to physical beauty (or the lack thereof), too many references to downing vodka and not enough explanation (for me, anyway) about what made things "click" for her. It's scattered, all over the place.

I can't quite figure out who this book is for. If you've studied the Course, you already know most of what she's saying, and she sheds little additional light. It would have been more successful, in my estimation, presented as a book introducing people to the Course: "The central tenets of the Course are...Life is illusory because...Here's how it brought an end to my self-destructive, shallow, meaningless life, and it can do that for you, too..." But she assumes readers' advanced knowledge of the course, and such readers already know that life is illusory, etc. I can only assume this book appeals to people who like her personality, her florid writing style. She writes about having prestigious jobs, and losing them, along with boyfriends, Bridget Jones-type stuff (a perspective somewhat foreign to me, though these stories obviously resonate with some). Ordinarily I like personal anecdotes but I didn't find the stories sufficiently interesting or relevent enough (to my life).

I did like her explanation for developing the catch-phrase "Gorgeous for God.' And I liked her admonitions to just get off your butt and go out and be good to others.

As a newcomer to ACIM but with decades of experience in many areas of learning I found this book an inspiration.
It contains numerous quotes from 'A Course In Miracles', many examples and interesting stories of her own experience.
Throughout it is packed with good sound practical advice about 'life'.
Highly recommended for anyone studying ACIM or asking about 'the meaning of life'.
Worth reading - several times.

every single page reveals a woman who is completely open and free. lisa openly shares her heart and life's journey. her every day observations and experieces are relatable and touching. lisa has a way of sharing A Course in Miracles in parables style. she uses examples from her every day life to demonstrate miraculous shifts in percetpion.

this book, like her daily blog, is a mighty companion.

In an age where "spiritual leaders" purport to have surmounted every obstacle and have very close to perfect lives -- this book offers an honest, refreshing look at what the life of a Teacher for God really looks like.

Full of stories that relate to where you are at -- as well as where you want to go. You won't find false tales here. And you won't find false promises. Instead, you will find the words of a dedicated woman who is simply herself and therefore instantly helpful. Yes, the author experiences transformation. But because she is me -- I, too, know I can experience transformation.

A wonderully "un lofty" book for those of us who who need a teacher and a friend with whom we can relate.

It's easy to consider this kind of stuff as new age crap - as i used to be one of those bitchy & cynical people. But when I got to sick of my life being other than what I wanted I discovered such a thing as the law of attraction which obviously is working 24 hours a day whether you believe it or not. How did I know? Well because my life sucked. And what I was learning proved to me that I was doing it to myself because once I began to change my mind things did begin to change for me.

When I picked up a course of miracles I knew I needed a teacher. So I found Lisa. Lisa's book is such a help if you want to understand a Course in Miracles and want to understand yourself. It's a delightful read with plenty of new insights to awareness and perception.

With Lisa's guidance my thinking has become so much clearer to me. I am able to catch myself doing exactly that which will give me a negative result. Also I'm understanding so much more about the law of attraction.

In my opinion - my opinion is never humble ha ha I found Gorgeous for God to be refreshing, entertaining, thoughtful and mind expanding. I got more than my money's worth.

I love this book!!! I had read material based on "A Course in Miracles" and had completed the workbook lessons. Then I found "Gorgeous for God." I related to everything Lisa Natoli spoke about in her book. She is a beautiful teacher and relays the Course's message in the clearest way. As I was still relatively new to the Course it felt wonderful to hear how someone else had benefited from the Course and how it was working in her life. And I found her words and interpretation of the Course so easy to follow. If you are a Course student, or even if you're new to the Course, this book is a MUST HAVE in your library!!
